Roger Gendron, Captain at Drop Your Fly Fishing

Fish with Orvis-endorsed guide, captain Roger Gendron on one of Southwest Florida's lesser-known jewels. Charlotte Harbor's incredible back country and shallow water bays are a fly and light tackle angler's wonderland. Whether drifting the flats or sneaking through the labyrinth of mangroves, fly and spin casting opportunities abound or a variety of species including Snook, Redfish, Trout, Tarpon, Jacks and more. We are dedicated to a quality fishing experience encouraging the maximum angler participation possible.

Guests are welcome to our quiver of top-of-the-line equipment but there is always room for your favorite outfit on board. Complimentary bottled water and ice is on board with room in the cooler for your drinks and snacks. Our focus is on your safety and an enjoyable day on the water.

Choose from a day on our super skinny Hewes flats skiff, the best selection for furtive fly fishing. Go solo or bring a witness, but two anglers max on the pocket fisher. Our Ranger Bay Boat is swift and stealthy, can cover a lot of water in a hurry, and has an enormous casting deck for stripping fly line or slinging light tackle. She is a terrific choice for two to three anglers and ideal for fly / spin fishing combo adventures.

The trip went well, and the captain was excellent. Unfortunately, the unpredictable wind and uncooperative fish were beyond anyone's control. Many thanks to Captain Roger, and I look forward to booking another trip whenever the opportunity arises.

An exceptional experience! Captain Gendron is highly skilled and affable, readily catering to customers' preferences and sharing a wealth of knowledge. We fulfilled our request, catching three fish species: striper, sea bass, and blues. His expertise extends beyond fishing, encompassing Westport and the surrounding area. We eagerly anticipate booking our next adventure at the earliest opportunity.

Captain Roger delivered an exceptional experience for my brothers and me out on the Long Island Sound. We had a fantastic time reeling in a diverse range of fish, and we couldn't be happier with our charter fishing trip! Without a doubt, we'd eagerly embark on this adventure again. Many thanks to Captain Roger!

An excellent day with an experienced captain who ensured continuous action, even during slow periods, and kept us in the midst of the fish. We landed numerous stripers, fluke, and porgy, with an unexpected affinity for sea robins. An incredibly enjoyable trip!

Captain Roger impressed us with his expertise, friendly demeanor, and most importantly, his ability to lead us to abundant schools of stripers! We'd unquestionably repeat the experience!

An experienced and amiable captain not only ensures you encounter fish but also imparts invaluable insights into the fish's behavior and feeding patterns. He accommodated my preference for spinning gear and even guided me in achieving a remarkable milestone - catching my very first saltwater fish on the fly, specifically a striped bass. I highly advise scheduling a trip with Connecticut Island Outfitters for an exceptional angling experience!
