Private 2-Hour Kids Fishing Adventure
Getting kids on the water early is one of the best gifts you can give them, and our private 2-hour kids fishing trip aboard our 24-foot Pathfinder is designed specifically with young anglers in mind. This isn't just a scaled-down version of an adult trip – we've crafted every detail to keep little hands busy, minds engaged, and fishing rods bent. Whether your child has never held a rod or already knows the difference between a spinning reel and a baitcaster, our captain tailors the experience to match their skill level and attention span.
What to Expect on the Water
The beauty of a private charter is flexibility, and with kids, that's everything. Our 24-foot Pathfinder gives us the perfect platform for inshore fishing – stable enough for wobbly sea legs but nimble enough to chase the action when fish are biting. We'll target areas where the action stays consistent, usually working shallow flats, grass beds, and structure where smaller game fish love to hang out. The captain keeps things moving at just the right pace, switching spots if the bite slows down and always having a backup plan when attention starts to wander. We provide all the tackle, and everything is sized appropriately for smaller hands – lighter rods, easier-to-manage reels, and hooks that won't intimidate first-timers. The whole experience focuses on fun first, with plenty of high-fives and photo opportunities when fish hit the deck.
Gear Setup for Young Anglers
We run light tackle exclusively on these trips because kids need to feel every tug and pull to stay engaged. Medium-light spinning rods paired with 2500-series reels give young anglers the perfect balance of power and control. We'll rig everything from live shrimp under popping corks to small jigs and soft plastics, depending on what's working that day. The key is keeping it simple – kids don't need to master complex techniques to catch fish and have a blast doing it. We'll teach basic casting, how to feel a bite, and proper reeling technique, but always in bite-sized lessons that don't overwhelm. Everything happens hands-on, with plenty of one-on-one instruction from the captain who knows exactly how to communicate with young anglers at their level.
Target Species
While we can't predict exactly what will bite on any given day, inshore waters consistently produce several species that are perfect for kids' trips. Pinfish are often the stars of the show for younger children – they bite aggressively, fight just hard enough to be exciting, and their smaller size makes them manageable for little hands. These feisty baitfish hang around grass beds and structure, and kids love their bright colors and spunky attitude when they come to the boat. Mangrove snapper are another favorite target, especially for kids who've got a few trips under their belts. They're smart fish that require a bit more finesse, but when kids connect with a nice snapper, the way these fish pull and dive gets them pumped up every time. The best part about snapper is they're excellent eating, so kids get the satisfaction of catching dinner for the family. We also encounter plenty of jack crevalle throughout the year, and while they might seem like overkill for kids, smaller jacks in the 2-3 pound range are absolute dynamite on light tackle. These fish pull hard and fast, giving kids a taste of what real gamefish feel like without being too overwhelming to handle.
Time to Book Your Spot
This 2-hour window hits the sweet spot for keeping kids engaged without wearing them out, and our top-rated captain knows exactly how to make every minute count. With space for up to 6 passengers, it's perfect for families or small groups wanting to introduce multiple children to fishing in a controlled, fun environment. The memories made on trips like these often spark lifelong passions for fishing, and there's nothing quite like seeing a child's face light up when they feel their first fish bite. Don't wait to book – these family-friendly time slots fill up fast, especially during peak season when the fishing is hot and families are looking for quality time on the water together.
