It was a beautiful March day down at the Fort Morgan Marina in Foley, Alabama, and we were geared up and ready to hit the water for a Gulf Shores Fishing Charter with 6Deep Fishing Charters. As an experienced guide, I always love this time of year - the weather is starting to warm up, and the inshore species like Sheepshead and Flathead catfish are really getting active. We had a group of four anglers joining us for a 2-4 hour private morning trip, and everyone was eager to try their luck. We got set up with a mix of deep sea, fly fishing, heavy tackle, light tackle, and drift fishing techniques, ready to target a variety of inshore species. The conditions were perfect - clear skies, calm waters, and great visibility. It didn't take long before the rods started bending, and the guys were reeling in some nice Sheepshead. They were putting up a great fight, darting between the rocks and structure, but the crew and I helped guide the anglers and get those fish in the boat. A little later, we managed to hook into a few Flathead catfish as well, adding some nice variety to the day's catch. Throughout the trip, the energy on the boat was fantastic. Everyone was engaged, asking questions, and working hard to master the different techniques. Between the steady bites and the great company, it was just an all-around fun and productive day out on the water. Our captain was exceptional—knowledgeable and personable. The experience was truly fantastic! We enjoyed non-stop action, with all four of us reeling in fish simultaneously multiple times. From Spanish Mackerel to Pompano and Grey Snapper, our catch was diverse and delicious. Cooking up our fresh catch only added to the memorable experience. After experiencing several fishing charters in the area, Captain Bill stands out as our top choice for future trips. His expertise was evident when he accurately estimated a 'forty minute fish.' During our 4-person half-day charter, we stayed close to shore, yet had exciting encounters with Spanish mackerel, bull sharks, and massive tarpon. Captain Bill skillfully guided us to a wreck where we hooked into a school of Jack, resulting in a thrilling 35-minute battle to reel in a 30+ pounder. The adrenaline of the chase and the satisfaction of landing such a catch made for an unforgettable adventure.
