With years of experience and a deep understanding of the area’s hot spots, you’re in great hands.
Expect to encounter a wide variety of species during your trip. Depending on the season and conditions, you might reel in Red Snapper, Sheepshead, Gag Grouper, Red Grouper, Vermilion Snapper, Mahi Mahi, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Redfish, Amberjack, Mangrove Snapper, and Black Drum. Bottom fishing is the go-to method, with both light and heavy tackle options available, especially on deep sea fishing Port St Joe excursions.
Planning to bring the little ones? 9 Hooks offers family friendly fishing charters in Port St. Joe, and kids are always welcome. Life jackets are required for children, so it’s a good idea to check ahead for the right sizes. Feel free to bring snacks and drinks to keep everyone fueled and happy throughout the day.
You’ll be fishing from a reliable 25’ Sea Pro center console that accommodates up to six guests. It comes fully equipped with rods, reels, tackle, and lures. Live bait is included in your trip, though sometimes you'll have the chance to catch it yourself—just ask the captain what to expect that day.
Licensing? Covered. All you need to do is show up ready for a fun and productive day on the water. Don’t forget the essentials: bring water, non-spray sunscreen, and sunglasses. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but skip the hard liquor and glass containers. Everything else? Let 9 Hooks take care of it while you focus on hooking the fish with your name on it.

Fun morning with this Louisiana crew! Phillip and his wonderful family were a blast! No one takes pics of the vermilions though 😂🤷♂️
Awesome afternoon with this Ohio crew! Some nice reds, a big trout and lots of other fish! David, Miranda, Grant and Eddie were fun to fish with!
Nate worked on the trout this morning! Enjoyed fishing with ya my man!
Spring fishing is heating up in Port St. Joe, and the bay is alive with action. Redfish are moving into the bay in greater numbers, offering excellent opportunities for inshore anglers. They’re being joined by big Speckled Trout, often called “Gator Trout” due to their impressive size this time of year. In addition to the usual inshore favorites, schools of Pompano, Spanish Mackerel, Ladyfish, and Bluefish have started showing up, making each cast full of potential. Even a few Sharks are cruising the shallows, adding some extra excitement to the mix. With warmer weather and clear water, spring is one of the best times to enjoy a productive day on the water with a Port St Joe fishing charter.

We had a blast. Even with the rough waves at the head of hurricane helene. Caught plenty of vermilion snapper.

Absolutely a great Captain, went out of his way to help my son and I today. Very nice equipment and boat, extremely knowledgeable about the bay. Highly recommend booking a trip with him. He WILL put you in the fish, we had two “firsts” today with him on the boat catching reds!!
