There were six of us on a half-day trip with Captain Chris, and he was on point from the start. He took us to a few different spots that had been producing well in the days leading up to our trip. We had a couple of bites but lost the fish, through no fault of his. The water was rough, so we decided to move into the bay for calmer fishing. As we were reeling in the last rod before leaving, it got hit — and out of nowhere, a 7-foot Sailfish leapt from the water. “Fish on!” It was pure luck, but we had hooked a bucket list catch. All six of us took turns on the reel during the hour-long fight until we finally brought him alongside the boat. We got our photos, admired him up close, and then released him back into the water. An unforgettable experience, and we’ll definitely book with Captain Chris again when we return.

My son checked two bucket list fish off his list — a Mahi Mahi and a Sailfish — and even battled a huge Tarpon and a couple of big Groupers, though those got away.
