Lots of big peacocks landed this weekend for my groups. Wind was blowing but we got it done. Great job to my anglers making our shots count. Sight fishing right now has been great.
Had a busy week with a few land mission trips with my guests Mae, Hamilton, Sven, and Erica’s groups. We put the snack down on the exotics and landed a bunch of quality fish. Screaming drag, sore arms, great weather… can’t beat it!
Peacock bass action is hot across Miami’s urban canal systems right now. These hard-hitting fish are in full post-spawn mode, aggressively feeding and holding tight to structure. If you're looking for fast-paced freshwater action, now’s the time to hit the water. Where to Fish: The best bites are coming from the C-100, C-4 (Tamiami), and C-111 canals, as well as neighborhood lakes throughout Kendall, Doral, and Hialeah. Look for areas with steady current, bridges, and shady overhangs—peacocks love ambushing baitfish from structure and ledges. What’s Working: Live bait: Shiners are the gold standard. Freelining or using a small float setup near rocky banks is producing quality fish. Artificial lures: Topwater plugs (especially early in the morning), jerkbaits, and small swimbaits are drawing solid strikes. Bright colors like orange, chartreuse, and firetiger patterns stand out well in slightly stained water. Fly fishing: Clouser minnows and poppers are getting attention around mid-morning, especially when worked slowly near cover. Size & Numbers: Expect fish in the 2–4 lb range with the occasional 5+ lb bruiser. The numbers have been excellent—double-digit outings aren’t uncommon right now, especially if you can move around and find active pockets. Tips for Success: Start early to beat the heat and the boat traffic. Don’t overlook docks and culverts—peacocks love tucking into tight spots. Keep moving if the bite slows. These fish are aggressive and usually bite quickly when they’re around.

Spent an incredible day on the water with Capt. Byron. His skiff was not only sleek and comfortable but also equipped with top-tier gear and electronics. We landed a solid number of bonefish and tarpon, and even had some great chances at permit in the clear, shallow waters of Biscayne Bay. Truly one of the most memorable fishing days I've had. Can't recommend Byron enough!

We opted for a laid-back outing with the kids, just fishing along the canal bank. It turned out to be such a fun and easygoing experience — the kids loved being outside and getting hands-on. Byron was amazing with them, especially my oldest, patiently showing how to bait the hook and reel in fish. After some time, we managed to catch a peacock bass along with a few others. I'd absolutely recommend spending a day with Byron!

Had an awesome day out with Byron. His skiff was spotless and built for precision — perfect for navigating the shallow flats. All the gear and tackle were top-notch. We spent the day on the Biscayne Bay flats, targeting bonefish and bringing in two, along with a solid number of trout. Even came across some juvenile tarpon and had a few chances at permit. Big thanks to Byron for working hard on the pole all day — definitely recommend fishing with him!

We had a great time fishing with Byron. He’s not only experienced and friendly but also really focused on helping us find quality fish. Even though we’re seasoned anglers in our own region, targeting a new species came with a bit of a learning curve. Byron did an excellent job explaining everything, had high-end gear, and was super patient throughout the process. His energy made the trip even more enjoyable. We’re already looking forward to our next outing with him!

Byron was fantastic and clearly knows his stuff. He brought my family and me out to a canal for a relaxed day of fishing. There were four of us, and even with just a couple of rods, it worked out perfectly — we took turns, and the area wasn’t crowded at all. We landed some really nice fish and enjoyed a beautiful day outdoors. I’d absolutely recommend a fishing trip with Byron!

As someone with no fishing experience, I spent a half day on the water with Byron — and it couldn’t have gone better. He was incredibly patient and made the whole experience enjoyable and easy to follow. We ended up catching over seven Peacock Bass, and it turned into one of the highlights of our entire trip. I’d gladly recommend Byron to anyone!
