Late April - Early May Fishing Report!
Folks the fishing in the Everglades out of the Fort Lauderdale area, has been unbelievable this past week. Several largemouth and peacock bass were caught, that were over 5lbs! 🤯 These fish were caught all on artificial lures primarily on top! This made for some spectacular top water blow ups! I would like to pass along some public safety announcements as well. Due to drought conditions. Several areas can be very hazardous. Especially around ramp areas, and canal corners. Due to prop wash and drought. Many boat ramps are very bad condition and launching can become very challenging. Points along canal corners are very shallow right now. Unbelievable Father and Sons fishing trip!
Phenomenal Everglades outing yesterday with Greg, and his 2 sons, Wes and Griff. These gentlemen are visiting from Georgia, and have never fished the Everglades, and the kids have never fished out of bass boat before.The family took on the artificial challenge! This basically means that ZERO, live bait was used, and they only fished with 100% artificial baits and lures.From the time the boat stopped to the time the trip was over, the fishing action was non-stop!!These guys boated a combination of 60 bass and peacock, as well as probably the same amount of exotic fish such as oscars, mayans, and jaguars!!The boys were exhausted by the end of the trip but all smiles! Had the pleasure of fishing with a couple of gentlemen from Brazil in the Everglades yesterday. Conditions were a little tough, especially with the wind early into the trip. I’ve had the pleasure of going on several trips with Cap Lou, and I highly recommend him. He’s not only an experienced guide but also extremely knowledgeable about the Everglades. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced angler, you’ll always learn something new when fishing with him. Besides being a great guy to fish with, he's like a walking bass fishing encyclopedia. I've had multiple outings with him, some resulting in over 100 bass caught, so you really can't ask for more. Highly recommend!

I was fortunate to book a trip with Capt Lou, and was immediately impressed with his overall knowledge, from how he pre planned the trip for the specific area we were going to target and concentrate on, and he was able to put me on the fish, and provided an opportunity to land my PB (personal best) Peacock Bass. (See pics attached) Capt Lou, is very friendly, and conscientious about the safety of the client and really wants the client to have a great fishing experience. His boat (Vexxus) is very comfortable to fish out of, and very well equipped, with top of the line technology. If you’re looking for someone experienced in local conditions with up to date knowledge of current patterns look no further than Capt Lou. I first booked with Capt Lou because of his exclusive use of artificial lures for Pea’s and Largemouth. Being an avid fisherman from the north and new to South Florida Capt Lou offered exactly what I was looking for in a guide. Our first trip out was with my son, which btw this was my son’s first trip ever. Capt Lou took my son under his wing and taught him the basics of casting, target spots and lure presentations all the while displaying great patience with a new beginner, which allowed me to do my own thing form the back of the boat. I have introduced friends and family to Capt Lou and every single outing has been nothing less than extraordinary with lots of shared knowledge, laughs and of course a ton of fish in the boat.
