Andrew Hammond
Spend a day on the water with Big Bite Charters and enjoy guided fishing trips out of Homosassa, Florida. Led by Captain Andrew, these trips are built around decades of experience fishing Florida’s Nature Coast and the Gulf of Mexico, paired with a long guiding background in Georgia. His fishing charter originally started on Lake Lanier, Georgia, and he now operates full-time in Homosassa, Florida.
Fishing in this area commonly targets Redfish, Snook, Speckled Trout, Pompano, Mangrove Snapper, Sheepshead, Cobia, Spanish Mackerel, Gag Grouper, Red Grouper, Hogfish, and Tarpon, depending on the season and conditions. Big Bite Charters offers both inshore light-tackle trips and offshore outings, giving anglers flexible options throughout the year.
Families are welcome aboard, and kids are encouraged to join the trip. Life jackets are provided for children under six years old, and guests are welcome to bring snacks to keep everyone comfortable during the day.
You’ll fish from a 24’ Blazer Bay 2420 GTS powered by a Mercury 300 Pro XS. The boat is equipped with Simrad electronics, a Minn Kota trolling motor, and Power Pole anchors to help stay positioned on active fish. It’s spacious, stable, and set up to accommodate up to four passengers comfortably.
All rods, reels, tackle, lures, bait, and ice are included at no extra cost. Your fishing license for the day is also covered by the charter, so there’s no added paperwork before boarding. Bottled water is always available on board. Guests should bring sunscreen (non-spray), sunglasses, and any snacks or drinks they prefer. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but hard liquor and glass bottles are discouraged.
Captain Andrew is a USCG-licensed and insured guide who grew up fishing around Brooksville, Homosassa, and Crystal River. As a teenager, he began targeting saltwater species across the Gulf of Mexico, later developing a strong fly-fishing background for Redfish, Snook, Speckled Trout, and Tarpon. He spent more than 15 years guiding Striper trips on Lake Lanier and surrounding Georgia reservoirs before returning to Florida to operate
