It was a beautiful day to be out on the water, and that's exactly what we did with William on our Whole Day Fishing Adventure in the Columbia River. The weather was perfect, with clear conditions throughout the day, and the water looked great for a productive day of fishing. We met up at 6315 Mission Ridge Dr in North Bonneville, Skamania County, and wasted no time getting set up and on the water. May is a prime time for a variety of fishing on the Columbia River, with ideal conditions for targeting species like Walleye, Salmon, and Sturgeon. We knew we were in for an action-packed day, and that's exactly what we got. As we worked the river, using a variety of techniques, the fish started to fire up. We had a blast working the water, feeling the tug of fish on the line and working to bring them in. Though we didn't manage to land any big prizes, we still had a great time out on the water, enjoying the scenery and good company. The energy on board was fantastic, and we shared plenty of laughs throughout the day. As of mid-May, fishing on the Columbia River in Washington is heating up with favorable water conditions and rising temperatures. The river levels are moderate and water clarity is good in most sections, creating excellent opportunities for anglers targeting spring species. The weather has been stable, with overcast mornings and clear afternoons, ideal for extended fishing sessions. Walleye, Salmon & Sturgeon Updates Walleye fishing continues to be productive from the Tri-Cities up through the John Day Pool. Anglers trolling worm harnesses and crankbaits near drop-offs and current seams are reporting consistent bites, especially during early morning hours. Fish in the 18–25 inch range are common, with a few larger trophies being landed near McNary Dam. Spring Chinook salmon action is strong below Bonneville Dam and in select tributaries. Anchoring and back-trolling with herring or plugs has been most effective. Many anglers are reaching their limits by mid-morning, especially on ebbing tides. Sturgeon fishing remains steady in catch-and-release areas, with solid activity reported near the Astoria Bridge and in deeper channel edges. Smelt and squid are proving effective as bait. Remember to check local retention rules, as sturgeon regulations vary by zone.
Me, Andrew, Fred and Josh got them quick this morning! Early enough to go home for the day and enjoy some family time! #Nolakenames
Before the night ends, We had a great day today with my crew. We made Lemonde out of lemons. 8 rips in a row not sticking, duo locks coming un-done, Bow rod tangling the back 2 rods on a take down. Ect. They boys pushed through and redeemed some Excellent URB’s 🤙 Some awesome moments, Low’s and highs! Juan Banales

James took me and my son out and it was deff a trip we will never forget. He put us on some nice Cohos right of the gate. We caught our limit within a couple hours of being on the water. Then we switched to sturgeon and he put me on the fight of my life with a 8 1/2 ft dinosaur!!! Super friendly captain that knows what he’s doing. I booked another trip with him not even a week later!! See you Sunday James 💪

I’ve fished with James at Brewster, Drano, Bonneville, Klickitat and up here for eater and trophy walleye. I don’t believe we were ever out fished by another boat, which is great but more importantly, it was ALWAYS entertaining and a fun adventure. James has the “Go” to get it done. Nobody works harder than he does to achieve success for whoever is on his boat.
