Jason Thorn
Boatloads Alaska delivers a truly personal fishing experience on the Kenai River and across the Kenai Peninsula. Led by Captain Jason Thorn, this operation is built for anglers who want more than a standard guided trip. Most outings are land based, focusing on walk and wade fishing that puts guests directly on productive water, with skiffs used when conditions call for it. This approach allows for flexibility, quiet access, and a deeper connection to the river.
Captain Jason grew up fishing with his grandfather and carried that passion north when he moved to Alaska in 2014. Since then, he has dedicated himself to learning the Kenai system inside and out. The region is known for producing massive numbers of fish each season, making it one of the most productive fisheries in the state. Jason’s hands on style and local knowledge help guests fish efficiently while enjoying the natural rhythm of the river.
Boatloads Alaska offers a range of trips, from short 2 hour outings starting at 8 am to immersive multi day experiences. Groups are kept manageable, with shared trips accommodating up to 16 guests and private options available for smaller parties. Daily fishing time can reach up to eight hours for boat assisted trips, while walk and wade outings provide steady action without relying on heavy boat traffic. Corporate retreat pricing is also available for groups of eight or more, making it a strong option for team outings and hosted events.
What truly sets Boatloads Alaska apart is its commercial fishing adventure packages. These four day trips include lodging at the lodge, breakfast and dinner, access to vehicles for travel within the Kenai Peninsula, and a commercial crew member license included in the rate. Guests can choose from multiple tiers, each offering guaranteed daily catch limits, with premium options allowing guests to keep everything they catch.
All necessary equipment is available for rent, including waders, fly rods, nets, and polarized glasses. Crew member shirts and hats are included at no extra cost. Peak season runs from July through September, when demand is highest and conditions are ideal. If you are looking for a Kenai River guided fishing experience that combines comfort, consistency, and a true Alaska lifestyle, Boatloads Alaska is ready to deliver.
