Private Offshore Fishing - 8 to 10 Hour Trips
When you're ready to leave the bay behind and chase the real heavyweight fighters, Captain Brett and 'Bout Time Charters will get you out to where the big fish live. These aren't your typical half-day trips – we're talking serious offshore fishing adventures that'll test your arms and fill your cooler. Whether you book the 8-hour MEAT HAUL or go all-in with the 10-hour MEAT MASH, you're signing up for some of the best fishing Pensacola Bay has to offer. We keep groups small at just 6 anglers max, so everyone gets plenty of rod time and personal attention from Brett, who knows these waters like the back of his hand.
What to Expect on the Water
These trips are built for anglers who want to put fish in the box, plain and simple. We'll head out before dawn to hit the prime feeding times, running to productive offshore structure where the amberjack stack up and the snappers are thick. The vibe is relaxed but focused – Brett's got the 80s classics pumping while you're working the bottom rigs and fighting fish that'll make your drag scream. You'll be targeting depths anywhere from 80 to 200 feet, working artificial reefs, natural bottom, and structure that holds serious fish. The whole crew pitches in – when someone's fighting a fish, others are baiting hooks and keeping lines ready. It's teamwork fishing at its best, and that's how you maximize your time over productive water. Don't worry about bringing lunch; these are bring-your-own-food trips, so pack whatever keeps you fueled for a long day of pulling on fish.
Bottom Fishing & Heavy Tackle
We're talking serious bottom fishing here – heavy sinkers, stout rods, and reels with enough drag to turn big amberjack and grouper. Brett runs the boat with electric reels available for the deep drops, but you'll also get plenty of time on conventional tackle if that's your style. We'll be fishing multiple bottom rigs at once, targeting different zones from 80-foot snapper spots to 150-foot amberjack holes. The technique is all about reading the bottom, staying tight to structure, and knowing when to muscle a fish up before it cuts you off in the rocks. Brett's got the electronics dialed in and knows exactly where to position the boat for maximum hookups. You'll learn to feel the difference between a fish pickup and bottom structure, how to work a fish in current, and why timing your hookset matters when you're fishing deep water with heavy tackle.
Customer Stories
"We had an absolutely amazing experience with 'Bout Time Charters! Our family had a fantastic time out on the water, and we couldn't have asked for a better captain than Brett. He was incredibly knowledgeable and made sure we had a safe and enjoyable trip. Not only did we have a great time, but we also caught our limit of red snappers thanks to Brett's expertise and guidance. It was truly a memorable fishing trip that we will never forget. We highly recommend 'Bout Time Charters to anyone looking for a fun and successful fishing experience. Thank you, Brett, for an unforgettable day on the water!" - Selena
"Cap. Brett is awesome!!! Due to weather we had to stay in the bay, he got us on fish right away. He was very accommodating with our two small children. Highly recommend, great tunes and definitely a good time!" - Nicholas
"We had a blast. We booked a graduation trip so my son and I could make a few more memories, and boy did we. Captain Brett knows his stuff. We fished and caught mingos, black snapper, trigger fish, amberjacks (yes, two of them although only one was keeping size), spanish mackrel, bait fish, and even sucker fish (by accident but we got it). We all worked together to have a good time. If he was taking a fish off a line, then we would bait our hooks. If he was baiting a hook, then we would get the fish off if we could. That means more line time in the water. To me going fishing means everyone works to achieve a good outcome. We seen several dolphins that are nice to look at, but I quickly learned ruin the fishing when they show up. We also seen a sea turtle while we were out. I was amazed when one of the other boats told Captain Brett about a red snapper that was floating and needed the air bladder popped. He did what he could to try to save that fish's life. Played 80s music during the trip, which I think he knows the words to all of them. It was a great experience with a lot of memories made. I will say to anyone going on trips like this, you should look at the captain as the guide and a helping hand, not your own personal butler. The experince is much more rewarding knowing you worked together instead of one person doing all the work and all you did was reel in the fishing line. Thanks Captain Brett for the awesome experience." - Jason
Species You'll Want to Hook
Greater Amberjack are the bulldogs of the deep, and they're what separates the serious anglers from the weekend warriors. These fish run anywhere from 15 to 50+ pounds in our waters, and when you hook one over structure, you better be ready for a fight. They'll dive straight for the bottom trying to cut your line, so you've got to turn them quick and keep steady pressure. Peak season runs from spring through early fall, but we catch them year-round. What makes amberjack special is that raw power – they'll test your tackle and your technique like nothing else out there.
Atlantic Goldeneye Tilefish are the deep-water prize that most anglers never get to experience. We're talking 200+ feet of water where these golden beauties live along the bottom. They're absolutely delicious eating – some say the best fish in the Gulf – with sweet, white meat that's
