One for the books today! Scott and their crew joined me for our Custom Half-Day Salmon Fishing Trip during summer, starting early morning under partly cloudy skies. The Columbia River was running under Regulated Navigation Area CFR 165.1325 conditions, which gave us solid water to work with. We launched with Brock Johnson's Guide Service ready to put some techniques to work. Once the stage was set, we focused on drift fishing, bottom bouncing, and spinning with lures to target the salmon runs. The Columbia River system really shines for these methods since the current structure and depth changes create perfect holding spots for fish moving through. We managed to connect with a Florida Gar during our session, which added some variety to the day. The combination of techniques kept us active and working different zones effectively. We wrapped up the trip with solid action and good times all around. The Columbia River continues to be one of the premier salmon fishing destinations, especially during summer months when the runs are active. Whether you're looking to target salmon in the river system or venture out to the Pacific Ocean, this fishery offers incredible opportunities for anglers of all skill levels. Our Custom Half-Day Salmon Fishing Trip covers both the Columbia River and Pacific Ocean access, giving you maximum flexibility to find the best bite. The Half Day Salmon Fishing program through Brock Johnson's Guide Service puts you right in the heart of the action with proven techniques like drift fishing and bottom bouncing that consistently produce results. If you're planning a Columbia River salmon fishing adventure, the summer and fall seasons offer some of the best opportunities to connect with these incredible fish. The regulated waters provide safe, productive fishing zones where we can focus on putting you on fish rather than worrying about conditions.

We also managed to hook into a beautiful 13-inch rainbow trout, adding some variety to our catch. The action wasn't limited to just salmon and trout, though. We even pulled in a few feisty blue runners, which always make for an exciting surprise when targeting other species. Our morning on the water flew by, with plenty of action to keep us engaged. We had a great time Salmon fishing with Brock. Caught a lot of fish. We had 2 contests going, biggest fish and puking the most times. I might have won them both.

Brock provided great direction and excellent communication. We met on time, and left on time. There were four of us fishing, all of us caught our limit of salmon by 9:05 AM. It was amazing! I didn’t have any time to take videos or photos… We were too busy catching fish!

Brock did a great job getting us a good fishing experience on a day where the fish weren’t biting (for anyone) as much as usual. We still got a fish for everyone on board, which was better than most of the boats on the water that day. Nice guy and a great guide.

Brock was fantastic to work with and really made the most of our time on the water. He started by asking what species we wanted to target and shared advice on what was biting that season. From there, he laid out a solid plan so we could try for each species without wasting time moving around. We kicked off with steelhead and landed two giants, then spent the rest of our 8-hour trip on sturgeon, catching another 15. Brock was great company, the gear was top-notch and easy to use, and the whole experience was excellent. I’d absolutely recommend his service.

Brock went above and beyond to help my son and me catch salmon, even with the weather keeping us off the ocean. Most of the fish had already moved out to sea, but since it wasn’t safe to go, he adjusted and took us to the river instead. He even offered to reschedule, though my calendar didn’t allow it. Despite the challenge, we still landed salmon while many others came up empty.
