Vehicle Details
The spring bite is heating up across Lacey Township as warmer water temps bring a surge of activity both inshore and offshore. Anglers are reporting solid action in the Barnegat Bay, Forked River, and nearshore waters of the Atlantic Ocean, with a strong mix of early-season favorites starting to move in. Inshore Action Striped bass are the highlight this week, with schoolies and some keeper-size fish chasing bunker and clams around the mouth of the Forked River and along the ICW. Anglers throwing soft plastics and topwater plugs in the early morning are getting steady hits. The back bay areas are also seeing an increase in fluke action, with several reports of 16–18" fish on bucktails tipped with Gulp! White and chartreuse colors are working best on a moving tide. Surf and Nearshore The Lacey Township surf is starting to produce, especially near Berkeley Island State Park and south toward Island Beach State Park. Small bluefish have moved in, providing non-stop action for those tossing metal spoons and poppers. Offshore, the black sea bass season opener is off to a solid start, with anglers finding limits over hard bottom and wrecks about 8–12 miles out. Squid strips and clams are doing the trick. What’s Coming Up With rising water temps, expect weakfish and larger fluke to show in the coming weeks. Keep an eye out for bunker pods offshore—where they go, the bigger stripers usually follow. Crabbing is also starting to pick up in the lagoons, making for a great family-friendly option.
