Book with Duane Tibbetts
Capt. Duane Tibbetts is a passionate outdoorsman with a lifelong love for fishing, having grown up in the sunny state of Florida. His fishing journey began in his childhood and has evolved over the years to encompass both freshwater and saltwater fishing adventures. After getting married nearly 49 years ago, his father-in-law, a fishing guide himself, encouraged him to obtain his Captain's License. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of Capt. Duane's fulfilling career on the water, a decision he has cherished ever since. He now takes great pleasure in guiding anglers around the islands, targeting Redfish when the tides are favorable. For those new to fishing, Capt. Duane offers a brief lesson to ensure they feel comfortable and confident, teaching them how to cast and reel in species like Trout and others.
With over 30 years of experience leading fishing trips, Capt. Duane has established himself as a local expert, primarily based out of Homosassa for most of his adult life. Homosassa is ideally situated amidst an intricate network of rivers and waterways, providing an excellent base for fishing some of the most spectacular inshore species, as well as exploring the expansive Gulf of Mexico. His enthusiasm for fishing is evident, as he delights in watching his customers reel in their catches, eagerly anticipating the excitement of getting them on the fish right away.
Capt. Duane operates a spacious 24-foot California skiff, accommodating up to four people, specifically designed for the shallow waters of the area. The vessel is powered by a 115 HP Mercury engine and equipped with GPS, fishfinder, and VHF radio, enabling quick navigation to the most promising fishing spots. As they glide through the pristine waters, anglers will target inshore species such as Redfish, Trout, Pompano, Mackerel, Tarpon, and Cobia, using light tackle. All necessary fishing gear, bait, and lures are provided, allowing guests to simply arrive and start their adventure on the waves.
Capt. Duane offers scalloping trips where guests can use provided scuba gear to gather fresh scallops while exploring the Gulf from Homosassa. They'll enjoy stunning views of nature reserves and may spot manatees and dolphins. All catches are cleaned and filleted for guests to take home.
With fishing licenses and pickup included, plus the option to keep your catch, this adventure is unforgettable. Join Capt. Duane Tibbetts to explore the beauty of Florida. Happy fishing!

Even during the hottest time of the year to fish, I was able to land an 18-inch and a 25-inch redfish, which made for a great supper. It was my first time in the area, and Captain Tibbetts not only got me on some fish but also gave me a tour of the area by water. It was an excellent trip!
