Dooper Dold
Fishing in Quepos is known worldwide for consistent action and incredible variety, and a trip with Catch A Lotta Fish Costa Rica puts you right in the middle of it. With Capt. Dooper at the helm, you’ll fish with a guide whose lifelong passion for the sport shows in every detail of the experience.
These Pacific waters offer year-round opportunities to target an impressive range of species. Depending on conditions and season, you may encounter Mahi Mahi, Sailfish, Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper, and more. Trips typically involve trolling and bottom fishing with light or heavy tackle, with techniques adjusted to match both the bite and your group’s goals.
Families are welcome aboard, making this charter a solid choice for anglers of all ages and experience levels. Shorter trips are ideal for kids and first-timers, while full-day outings give seasoned anglers more time to focus offshore. Guests are welcome to bring their own snacks, and drinks plus light food are provided to help everyone stay comfortable throughout the day.
You’ll fish from a tournament-rigged 41’ Luhrs sportfishing vessel that comfortably accommodates up to eight guests. The boat features outriggers, a fighting chair, quality electronics, and a clean onboard restroom. Rods, reels, tackle, and lures are included, and live bait is often available depending on conditions. Free Starlink WiFi is also onboard, allowing guests to stay connected while offshore.
A knowledgeable first mate will assist with baiting hooks, handling fish, and keeping lines organized. A gratuity of 10–20% is customary for their efforts. All anglers must purchase a local fishing license prior to departure, which can be done online or discussed with the captain. Some species may be regulated or require tags.
Bring non-spray sunscreen, sunglasses, and suitable clothing. Alcohol is permitted in moderation, though hard liquor and glass bottles are discouraged. Whether you’re chasing pelagic fish, enjoying a family outing, or booking a scenic sunset cruise, this charter delivers a well-rounded and memorable day on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast.
