Owned and operated by Josh Terry, who brings more than 20 years of professional guiding experience, Chasin' Tails specializes in guided trips for salmon, steelhead, trout, rockfish, and lingcod across a diverse network of premier regional waterways.

Josh has dreamed of becoming a guide since he was six years old and has spent decades mastering the river systems of Southern Oregon and Northern California. While the Rogue River serves as a home base during prime seasons, Josh follows the fish year-round across an expanded range of productive watersheds. From November 1 through December 15, trips focus on the renowned waters of the Elk River, Sixes River, Chetco River, and Smith River. From January 1 through March 31, winter fisheries expand to include the Elk, Sixes, Chetco, Smith, and Umpqua rivers.

His extensive local knowledge—complemented by limited special use permits for the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest and Six Rivers National Forest—provides access to exceptional spots that few captains can offer.

Choose from full-day drift boat trips, full-day power boat trips, or half-day adventures designed to match your schedule and goals. Every excursion is customized to current conditions using proven techniques, including drift fishing, trolling, float fishing, fly fishing, jigging, conventional gear, spin casting, back trolling, and deep-sea bottom fishing.

Depending on the season and river conditions, you will fish aboard a sturdy 23-foot Willie Predator powered by a 225 HP Mercury engine or one of Josh's 17-foot Willie drift boats. Premium Chrome Seeker Custom Rods and Shimano reels are provided, alongside complimentary fish cleaning and filleting at the end of the day.

Beginners, families, small groups, and experienced anglers are all welcome. Josh enjoys introducing first-time fishermen to the sport just as much as helping seasoned veterans land their next big catch.

Guests should bring an Oregon Fishing License with a Salmon/Steelhead Tag, weather-appropriate clothing, food, drinks, and a cooler for their catch. Safety is always a top priority; Josh is a licensed US Coast Guard Master, an insured Oregon Fishing Guide, and a registered Oregon Hunting Guide.
