On this fishing trip, you will be joined by Captain Marc Costa, a USCG licensed captain, and his first mate. He has been fishing from Rock Harbor as part of their family charter business since 1972. As he grew older, he realized that fishing was more than simply a hobby for him; and he chose to continue the family tradition of running Columbia Sportfishing. He is personable, knowledgeable, and will do his best to make sure you and your group have an awesome experience aboard the Columbia.

Captain Marc caters to all anglers, regardless of age or experience level. He is ready to share his knowledge of techniques such as bottom fishing, spinning, popping, trolling, jigging with light to heavy tackle. Captain Marc will do his best to make sure you return home with a cooler full of fish, thanks to his local knowledge and expertise. Among other inshore species, expect to target Striped Bass, Bluefish, Black Sea Bass, or Tautog.

Ride on the 43’ Columbia Boat that was originally custom-built in 1964 and restored in 2011. Up to 6 anglers can comfortably fish on this beautiful boat full of history. The historical boat has been passed on from generations of anglers and has always been a trustworthy vessel for Captain Marc.

The trip also includes the necessary fishing gear, such as rods, live bait, tackle, and fishing licenses. You will have the option to catch and release, or bring home a legal catch with you, as the crew will clean and filet your catch for you.

Rock Harbor in Orleans, MA, is an incredibly special location. The harbor is on a tidal creek with only enough water to float most boats for about two to three hours on either side of an 8 to 11 foot high tide. So, each four and eight hour trip leaves Rock Harbor leaves according to the tide on that day. Peak times for fish to feed are based on tidal flow and ebb, so timing departure to the tide cycle made fishing more predictable. The other reason for Rock Harbor’s popularity is its location. It’s not far from the Cape Cod Canal for customers coming from off-Cape, and it’s centrally located within striking distance of the best fishing grounds – Barnstable 12 miles to the west or Provincetown 17 miles to the north.

Please note that departure times are subject to change to chance according to the tides for the day of the trip - coordinate with Captain Marc regarding your start time. Schedule a charter now and learn from generations worth of angling experience with Columbia Sportfishing!
