Looking to experience light tackle salmon fishing at its finest in Seattle? Cut Plug Charters offers top-tier, hands-on fishing trips through the rich waters of Puget Sound, with a focus on technique, participation, and results. Whether you're after Chinook, Coho, or Lingcod, this charter delivers a skill-focused experience that keeps every angler actively engaged.
Led by Captain Justin Wong and a small, highly experienced team of licensed guides, Cut Plug Charters emphasizes the interactive technique of mooching—a classic salmon method where you, the angler, do it all: from enticing the strike to setting the hook and reeling in the fish. It’s not just about catching fish—it’s about doing it the right way, with technique and feel.
Departing from Shilshole Bay Marina, you’ll board a well-outfitted 21’ Grady White center console that can host up to 5 anglers. This boat is powered by a 200 HP Yamaha engine and comes equipped with modern marine electronics, USCG safety gear, a live bait tank, and an ice box to keep your catch fresh. The compact size allows for a more personal trip, ideal for families, first-timers, and seasoned anglers alike.
Cut Plug Charters specializes in light tackle fishing, jigging, and bottom fishing, with fly fishing available on request (ideal for 1–2 guests per trip). The crew provides high-end G. Loomis rods, Shimano reels, and all lures needed. You’re welcome to bring your own gear, especially if you're planning to fly fish. Live bait is seasonal and not guaranteed, but when available, it’ll be ready before you arrive.
During your trip, you'll target a variety of species depending on the season and tides. Chinook (King) and Coho (Silver) Salmon are the main draw, with Lingcod and Flounder rounding out the possibilities during bottom fishing seasons.
All gear, bait, and fish cleaning is included. Washington fishing licenses are required but can be conveniently purchased on the boat for $10 per angler.
Shared and private charter options are available. If you book a shared 6-hour trip and no other guests join, your trip will automatically convert to a private 4-hour charter at no extra cost—giving you more space and flexibility.
Whether you're a local or visiting Seattle, Cut Plug Charters is your go-to choice for professional, technique-driven salmon fishing in Puget Sound. Book your trip and experience what makes this fishery—and this team—one of the most trusted in the region.

Justin is an exceptional captain—he consistently knew exactly where to find the fish and guided us to all the hot spots. His sense of humor and vast fishing expertise kept things fun and educational throughout the trip. He communicated seamlessly with other captains to position us perfectly on the water, and stayed busy making sure our hooks were always baited. He kicked the day off by thoroughly going over safety, which set a great tone. We had an unforgettable time with Justin and will absolutely book him again—if he's available! Our last catch of the day was a young King salmon—it was out of season and undersized, so he quickly removed the hook, let us snap a photo, and released it. It was an overall amazing experience, and we can’t thank Justin enough for helping us create such wonderful memories!

Despite not landing any large salmon, we still caught plenty—including even a shark! We had a blast the whole time. Captain Justin never gave up on us—he used every single minute to try and hook a big salmon. It’s clear he’s passionate about his work and gives his all to ensure his guests have an outstanding experience!

Everything was flawless—the timing, the fishing spot, the captain, and the boat all came together perfectly. I’m completely satisfied with the overall fishing experience and couldn’t have asked for more.

Our group had an awesome time aboard! Trolling for fish was a really unique experience. With only two people fishing at a time—even though we had five onboard—everyone still got a turn, and each of us caught salmon! Watching them fillet our catch right on the dock was super cool. Captain Justin even recommended an amazing restaurant and arranged shipping our fish back to Kansas. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and went above and beyond—highly recommended!

From the moment we set sail, it was obvious Captain Justin knows his craft and is fully committed to making sure his guests have an exceptional experience. We hooked several King salmon—though regulations meant we had to release them—but that didn't dampen the adventure. I’m already looking forward to heading out again with Cut Plug Charters!
