Anglers in Port Aransas, Texas, are enjoying prime fishing conditions both inshore and offshore. With warm Gulf waters and steady bait movement, the bite has been consistent across multiple species. Inshore, redfish and speckled trout are being caught near the flats and marshes, especially around Lighthouse Lakes and Estes Flats. Live shrimp under popping corks and soft plastics are producing solid numbers. Flounder are also showing up near structure and channels, offering great action on jig setups. Offshore fishing out of Port Aransas has been outstanding, especially for kingfish, mahi-mahi, and blackfin tuna. Charter boats heading 30+ miles offshore are finding success trolling skirted baits and rigged ballyhoo. Snapper fishing is hot around reefs and rigs, with limits being reached quickly. Cobia and amberjack are also making appearances, offering big fights and even bigger photo ops. The jetties remain a solid backup plan with a mix of sheepshead, Spanish mackerel, and occasional jack crevalle.
The Redfish bite continues to be good.
Port Aransas Fishing Report – July 2024 Current Conditions: The weather in Port Aransas has been warm and sunny, with water temperatures steadily rising, creating ideal conditions for fishing. Clear skies and calm seas have made for excellent visibility and comfortable outings on the water. What's Biting: Redfish: The redfish bite is strong right now, with many anglers reporting success in the shallow flats and near the jetties. These fish are responding well to live bait like shrimp and mullet, as well as artificial lures. Speckled Trout: Speckled trout are abundant, especially in the early morning and late evening hours. Look for them around grass flats and oyster beds, where they’re hitting topwater lures and soft plastics. Flounder: Flounder fishing has picked up, particularly in sandy bottom areas and around the pilings. Live finger mullet and soft plastic jigs are working well. Black Drum: Black drum are being caught near the deeper channels and drop-offs. Fresh crab and shrimp have been the go-to baits for these hard-fighting fish. Tips and Techniques: For redfish and trout, focus on the early morning or late afternoon when the fish are most active. Use light tackle and fluorocarbon leaders to increase your chances of landing these wary fish. Keep an eye on tidal movements, as fish tend to be more active during changing tides. Guided Trips:

I took my two sons, aged 9 and 11, on their first fishing trip. Given our limited fishing experience, I was concerned about our ability to fish. However, the captain and crew were amazing. Their service was akin to that of a five-star hotel. They kept us on the fish and assisted us throughout the entire trip. My family can't stop talking about the experience and is already eager to plan another trip.

He expertly guided us to where the fish were, and we caught numerous big redfish and trout. Despite the windy conditions, we had a fantastic time, thanks to Randy's attentive care.

Upon our 7am arrival, Captain Randy greeted us and provided a safe place for our valuables. He then ensured our comfort on the boat, offering information about our fishing targets and techniques. Within about 10 minutes, we reached the first of several fishing spots where Randy took care of everything, engaging us in conversation and handing us the rods. By the end of the 3.5-hour trip, we had caught 10 fish and enjoyed insightful conversations about the area, providing us with new ideas to explore.
