Lake Whitney Striper Fishing Charter
Looking for some serious striper action? You've found the right crew. Finn's Fishing Charter has been putting anglers on fish at Lake Whitney for years, and our 4-hour half-day trips are perfect for anyone wanting to hook into some quality striped bass without burning a whole day on the water. Whether you're a weekend warrior or just getting your feet wet, we'll get you dialed in on what's working and where the fish are holding.
What to Expect on the Water
This isn't your typical sit-and-wait fishing trip. We're actively hunting stripers across Lake Whitney's 23,560 acres, moving with the fish and adjusting our game plan based on what they're doing that day. The beauty of a 4-hour charter is we can cover a lot of water without the pressure of an all-day commitment. We'll launch early when the bite is hot, or time it for the evening feed depending on seasonal patterns. You'll spend your time actually fishing, not just riding around - I know this lake like the back of my hand and exactly where these stripers like to hang out during different times of year. The boat holds up to 6 anglers comfortably, so bring your buddies or make it a family affair. Kids especially love the fast action stripers can provide.
Live Bait vs Artificials
We run both live bait and artificial lures depending on what's producing. Live shad is absolute candy to Lake Whitney stripers - we'll either catch our own with a cast net or pick up some fresh bait before we head out. When we're running live bait, we're typically fishing it on downlines or under floats, letting the shad do the work while we watch for that telltale rod tip bounce. On the artificial side, we throw everything from umbrella rigs and Alabama rigs to topwater plugs when they're busting baitfish on the surface. Slabs work great in deeper water, especially during the winter months when fish are holding in the channels. I've got all the gear you need - rods, reels, tackle, bait, ice, everything. Just bring your valid Texas fishing license and we're good to go. And here's the kicker - I'll clean and bag your fish at the end of the day so you can head straight home with dinner ready for the fryer.
Species You'll Want to Hook
Striped bass are the main attraction at Lake Whitney, and for good reason. These fish were stocked here back in the late 1960s and have been thriving ever since, creating one of Texas's top-rated striper fisheries. We're talking fish that regularly run 3 to 8 pounds, with bigger specimens pushing into double digits if you get lucky. Spring and fall are absolutely prime time when these fish are most active and feeding heavily. During spring, they'll move shallow to spawn and you can find them in the backs of coves and around creek mouths. Fall brings the best topwater action when stripers are chasing shad balls on the surface - nothing beats the visual excitement of watching a 6-pound striper blow up on a topwater plug. Winter fishing can be fantastic too, as the fish school up tight in deeper water and you can catch them consistently once you locate a good school. What makes stripers so much fun is their fighting ability - they'll make screaming runs and jump clear out of the water. Plus, they're excellent table fare with firm white meat that's perfect for grilling or frying. The daily bag limit is 5 fish with a 18-inch minimum, and we'll do our best to put you on fish that'll make for some great fillets.
Time to Book Your Spot
Lake Whitney's striper bite has been solid this season, and word is getting out fast about the quality fishing we've been seeing. These 4-hour trips book up quickly, especially during prime time periods in spring and fall when the fish are most cooperative. The best part about fishing with a local guide is you're getting years of experience and knowledge of the lake's patterns, structure, and fish behavior - stuff you just can't get from a fishing app or online forum. We're out here multiple times per week, so we know exactly what's working right now and where the fish have been holding. Don't waste your weekend driving around the lake trying to figure it out on your own. Let us put you on the fish and show you why Lake Whitney has earned its reputation as one of the best striper lakes in Texas. Give us a call and let's get your trip on the books - the stripers are biting and we're ready to put some fish in the boat.
