Steven Wenger
If you’re ready to explore fishing in Miami Beach, Finway Sportfishing is the name to know. Whether you head out with Captain Steven or Captain Himie, you’ll be in the hands of seasoned professionals who’ve spent decades on these waters. Their knowledge of local fishing grounds and techniques ensures you’re set up for a productive day on the water.
South Florida’s offshore scene is packed with opportunity. These waters are home to species like Great Barracuda, Vermilion Snapper, Mahi Mahi, Bonito, Almaco Jack, Snowy Grouper, Sailfish, Skipjack Tuna, Wahoo, Bull Shark, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Amberjack, and more. Depending on the time of year and conditions, your crew may suggest trolling or bottom fishing with heavy tackle to target what’s biting.
Captain Steven is a family man himself and enjoys sharing his passion with anglers of all ages. He encourages families to join him on the water and loves seeing young anglers get their first catch. If you're bringing a child and need a smaller life vest, just let the team know in advance so they can make sure you're set.
You’ll be fishing aboard a 39’ custom-built sportfishing vessel that was fully restored in 2021. It’s powered by a 650HP Caterpillar engine and comfortably accommodates up to 6 guests. The boat is equipped with all the essentials including outriggers, a fighting chair, a clean onboard toilet, and an ice box to keep your drinks and snacks cold. Rods, reels, tackle, and live bait are all provided. Ask your captain whether you’ll be catching bait yourself or if it’ll be ready to go when you arrive.
Trips are assisted by a knowledgeable First Mate who works hard to keep lines tight and anglers happy. A 15–25% tip is standard and always appreciated for their effort and attention.
Your fishing license is included, so there’s no need to worry about permits — just show up prepared. Keep in mind, some species may be subject to specific harvesting rules or seasonal restrictions. If you're unsure, don’t hesitate to ask the captain.
To make the most of your day, it’s a good idea to bring a hat, sunglasses, non-spray sunblock, snacks, and plenty of bottled water. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but it’s best to leave hard liquor and glass containers at home.
Ready for a serious day of fishing with knowledgeable, friendly guides? Finway Sportfishing is standing by to take you out on the water.
