First Shot Charter will show you around some of the most prolific waters off the coast of Destin, Florida! It is aptly named "The World's Luckiest Fishing Village" and is nestled away among white sand beaches and emerald green waters. Captain Mike has lifelong experience when it comes to fishing in the area, so he’ll make sure to take you to all the sweetest spots on this fun-filled adventure.
Owner and operator, Captain Mike is a native of the Destin area, he’s been a USCG-licensed captain since 2003. He will provide an action-packed trip for you and your group as he keeps you busy cruising along the inshore of the Gulf of Mexico that has everything from the drag-screaming light tackle action of King Mackerel to the excellent table fare of Red Snapper and Grouper or on a backcountry (back bay) fishing for Speckled Trout, Redfish, Flounder, and Spanish Mackerel which is also a light tackle rod bending action that will keep you and your family smiling.
Your vessel will be a 20’ Cape Horn center console that can fit up to 4 passengers per trip. Fully equipped with the navigational electronics a charter needs. Onboard, there are also life jackets and live bait well ready for use.
Captain Mike will have all the fishing equipment ready for you – rods, reels, tackle, lures, and bait. The fishing license is also covered. All you have to do is to prepare your snacks & drinks, bring sun protection and be sure to be in your weather-appropriate clothing.
The Captain will have you use various fishing techniques such as light and heavy tackle, bottom fishing, deep sea fishing, trolling, drift and fly fishing to put you on your target fish. After a successful trip, he’ll be happy to clean and fillet your fish too.

Thoroughly enjoy every trip of Captain Mike! He is very knowledgeable. Everything is provided to ensure a good trip. Captain Mike works hard to ensure we go to where we have the best chance to catch fish. I’ve been multiple times and have always had a good time. Our last trip we were able to catch Amberjack!

Captain Mike was a very nice guy! He is a very honest guy as well. He told us upfront that the fishing may not be the greatest because of the weather conditions and it was our choice to go out or get a refund. We chose to go out anyway and we only caught 1 fish but had fun cruising around on a boat and seeing dolphins. We did not regret our decision. I would use him again on our next vacation!

BOOK THIS CHARTER. Mike went above & beyond to help my party after we were cancelled on a different charter & then had to be cancelled by him due to a 3rd party booking app double booking him. He spent time trying to find us a boat to ensure our vacation wasn't ruined. We didn't get the pleasure of going out with him but First Shot Charters has our business & anyone I can possibly send his way. We are extremely grateful for his kindness & willingness to help when we felt disappointed & frustrated. You will not regret the peace of mind you'll have by booking with him.

Capt. Mike is experienced and well equipped. Myself and 2 friends caught fish everywhere we went. Capt. Mike has a great sense of humor and friendly. We only had 33 keepers, (mingos, porgy, spanish, & trigger) but probably caught close to 70+ fish in 6 hours. Super fun trip.
