Hey Everyone! With the Scallop Stampede rapidly approaching (July 1st-Sept. 24 in Citrus County), I thought I’d take a moment to cover your pre-season checklist to set you up for success on the grass flats! 1.) First and foremost, unless you are hiring a guide, you MUST have a FL Saltwater Fishing License to harvest scallops. This applies to everyone over the age of 16. Don’t get caught scalloping without one, BIG FINE. www.myfwc.com to obtain yours!2.) Although not mandatory, I highly recommend that you invest in a quality mask, fins and snorkel. Practice in a pool before your trip. Using this gear comfortably can make a HUGE difference in your scalloping success! 3.). Purchase and Display a “Diver Down” flag from the highest point of your vessel. It’s the law. Other boats MUST slow to idle speed within a 300ft radius of a flag. Keep an air horn aboard to remind other boaters of this rule. And use liberally! 4.) Limits are 2 gallons (in shell) per person or 10gal. per boat. (whichever is less). You may clean your scallops and discard shells on the open water or wait until you get home. You may also use a scallop cleaning service for a nominal fee. PLEASE do not dump your scallop shells in our rivers or inland waterways. Emptying your cleaned shells into a garbage can or dumpster is perfectly fine. They also make pretty decent landscape filler. Speaking of cleaned scallops…..why not take yours to one of our many GREAT local restaurants that will cook yours for you? They do an amazing job preparing your catch after an awesome day on the water! Stay tuned for more detailed tips as the season gets underway! Happy and SAFE Scalloping! To book your Scalloping adventure, text or call (352) 697-2874 and let’s find you a great date! www.fishhuntertours.com
Spring has ‘em FIRED UP! 🔥. This past week has delivered some phenomenal catches, with trout, redfish, big sharks and spanish mackerel all hitting the deck. I have a few March spots available and some GREAT april dates yet to be claimed.

We caught fish all day long! Johnny and his mate were true professionals—extremely knowledgeable about the species we were targeting. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great fishing experience!

Captain Johnny and mate Nick did an excellent job putting us on the fish. We wrapped up the day with 16 keeper yellowtail snappers, plus plenty of shorts that were released healthy and alive. Caught a variety of other species as well, all safely released. This was our second year fishing with Captain Johnny, and we couldn't be happier with the entire experience. Hoping to squeeze in one more trip before heading home!

Awesome trip! The crew did a fantastic job—calm, easygoing, and no pressure the whole day. We limited out on yellowtail, and the recommendation to have them prepared at Lazy Days was spot on. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Captain Johnny and his first mate Chris were top-notch! Spent the day on the water with the kids and ended up with 19 keepers—nonstop action, the kids were reeling them in the whole time. Absolutely worth booking with Captain Johnny. What a great time!

Captain Johnny and Nick did an excellent job! There were six of us on board, and everyone had a great time. We even enjoyed our fresh catch for lunch at The Key Fishery Restaurant right at the marina. An all-around fantastic experience!
