Whether you’re after Port Washington salmon fishing or targeting Trout, this charter takes the stress out of the process.
Before boarding, anglers 16 and older will need a valid Wisconsin fishing license and a Great Lakes Trout and Salmon stamp—easy to grab online. Don’t forget to pack sunglasses, sunscreen, snacks, and weather-appropriate layers. Moderate alcohol is allowed, but skip the hard liquor and glass containers. Mates work hard to make your trip great, so a 15–20% tip is always appreciated. Ready to fish? Lake Michigan salmon fishing with Fishin Da Net is the experience you’ve been looking for.

Tuesday morning, we had the privilege to welcome Joanie and crew Toni, Amy, and Gina to hop aboard Fishin Da Net for a mid September fishing adventure. They had a blast catching four mature king salmon staging before moving in the harbor to attempt to spawn. We also caught a two year old king salmon and coho salmon after moving out to deeper water. The crew had a few hours Wednesday morning before needing to drive back home to Missouri so they decided to book a brief charter trip Wednesday as well. They wanted to chase smaller fish for the grill, so we setup outside of the staging king salmon. Fishing was slow, but we managed to catch one nice king salmon and one coho salmon before heading back to the dock. Thanks, Joanie, for booking the trip! We enjoyed having ya'll on board and hope to see you again next year. I do have some openings the remainder of this season which will wrap up mid October. Give me a holler to book your trip! I am also taking reservations for trips for 2026. Capt. Dave Protzmann (920) 254-3137 www.fishindanet.com
This morning, Laura and her family booked a charter on Fishin Da Net. This was one of those days where things just worked well. Doesn't always go that way, but today was a great day. First, the company on board was excellent. Second, the rain held off. Finally, the fish cooperated! We brought 11 king salmon, 1 coho salmon, and 1 brown trout to Da Net to meet their demise. The king salmon put up great fights. All but one of them were mature fish coming in to spawn. What a blast the boys had bringing in the fish. They did great! Thanks, Laura, for booking the trip! Hope to have ya'll on board again in the coming years. If you want to get out before the end of the season, give me a shout. I have some openings sprinkled about through the end of the season mid October. Capt. Dave Protzmann (920) 254-3137 www.fishindanet.com
This morning, Norman treated his son to a charter for his birthday bringing his other son, father, and father in-law to round out the crew. The birthday boy really wanted to catch some king salmon so we ventured out targeting kings staging in shallower water. The crew brought 3 king salmon to Da Net to meet their demise along with one nice chunky brown trout. A few other fish were lucky to escape the grasp of our hooks to swim another day. This season is quickly winding down. The weather was great this morning and the forecast looks good for the next week or so. I have some openings if you want to get out for a late season adventure! Non-stop bites all day long! That's how I'd sum up our summer fishing adventure on Lake Michigan with Jeffrey. We set out from Port Washington Marina in the early morning, ready to tackle some serious fishing action. The day started with a bit of rain, but it cleared up to partly cloudy skies, giving us perfect conditions for our 5-hour charter with Fishin Da Net Charter Fishing. With our gear rigged and ready, we hit the water, eager to try our luck with a variety of techniques. We started off trolling, covering a good stretch of water to locate the most active spots. As we moved along, we switched things up with some jigging, which can be really effective for enticing those deeper-dwelling fish. We also gave live bait fishing a shot, always a solid choice when you're after a mix of species in Lake Michigan. Throughout the day, we worked different areas of the lake, adjusting our approach based on what we were seeing. While we didn't land any trophies this time around, the constant action kept us engaged and having a blast. Every cast was an opportunity, and we made the most of our time on the water. We wrapped up the trip with smiles all around, appreciating the experience of being out on beautiful Lake Michigan. Gary booked a trip aboard Fishin Da Net wanting to learn more about how we fish for salmon on Lake Michigan here in Port Washington. He recently moved to the area from Washington state. He has lots of experience fishing salmon in the Pacific northwest but realized our fishing techniques here for salmon are quite different. Thus, he booked a charter to learn about the quirks we have here in Wisconsin. First mate Todd and I explained everything we did and the rationale behind our choices to coax the salmon to bite our lures. Gary said he enjoyed the trip and learned much while reeling in his limit of 4 king salmon and 1 coho salmon to Da Net! We also landed a bonus king salmon while reeling in lines at the end of the trip. Thanks, Gary, for booking the trip and good luck to you fishing here in Port Washington!I have some openings this weekend and next week. Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon are open. Next week, I have openings Monday afternoon, Tuesday AM or PM and then again Wednesday and Thursday morning. Give me a holler to book your trip. We can do a tutorial session like Gary had or a rationale charter trip. You decide and let me know!Capt. Dave Protzmann(920) 254-3137 www.fishindanet.com
The water warmed up this week. The fishing is heating up alongside rhe water. Last night, my brother Bena dnhis wife Liz and I went on a quick sunset trip. We landed three king salmon, one rainbow trout, and one coho salmon. Then this morning, Jason, Ryan, Brad, and Jayden hopped aboard Fishin Da Net for a charter trip. The fishing cooperated nicely. We boated 7 king salmon, 5 coho salmon, and 1 rainbow trout for the crew to take home to eat. They won't go hungry for a while anyhow. With the warm water, fishing down deep where the eater is cooler is the key.I have openings Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings this week. Then again after next weekend. Today is the first day of Salmon A Rama 2025. We got off to a good start this morning catching 5 nice coho salmon, 5 rainbow trout, and 2 king salmon fishing alongside brother Ben and veteran anglers Grant and Dale who boarded Fishin Da Net for the first time. The largest coho salmon weighed in at 9.7 pounds on the certified scale. That fish held the top spot for the biggest coho salmon of the day before being overtaken by a 9.76 pounder a few hours later. Very nice fish and was a thrill. king on top of the leaderboard for a spell. The special discount for Salmon A Rama is still running. Book your trip now before time runs out! Yesterday morning, Villa and crew booked a charter on Fishin Da Net for their first time ever on Lake Michigan. Despite the rain and bouts with a little sea sickness for some on board, a good time was had by all with lots of laughs and cheerfulness even though the fish were tough to come by. We did manage to bring 2 nice rainbow trout to Da Net while losing another one right behind the boat about a half second before it would have met its demise.Thank you, Villa, for booking the trip! I have openings the next few weeks including during Salmon A Rama starting ths Saturday, July 12. Give a holler to book your trip.Capt. Dave Protzmann(920) 254-3137www.fishindanet.com
My girlfriend Chelsea along with her parents, brother, sister, and brother in-law hopped aboard Fishin Da Net for a fun family fishing trip Sunday morning. The lake was calm with beautiful weather, caught a few fish, and all had a good time. We landed 2 nice king salmon and 4 good sized coho salmon. The fishing was a bit slower than it had been with no real pattern. The kings came in 80-100 feet of water whereas the coho salmon were caught primarily in 140-180 feet of water.I have openings over the July 4th weekend except Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Mornings are available every day. Give me a holler to book your trip today!
Yesterday, Alec booked a charter on Fishin Da Net with crew Gary, Lance, and Wes. We had great weather, good times with good company, and good fishing to boot. Went on a family fishing trip with Capt' Dave and had a great time! He took care of everything for us and was very professional and friendly to work with. Would highly recommend him to anyone looking to get out on the water!

I’ve been on many charters from Lake Michigan to the Florida Keys, and Captain Dave along with deckhand Todd did an outstanding job. The bite wasn’t hot at first, but they pulled out every trick in the book—and then some—to make sure we put fish in the boat. Their equipment was top-notch, and the spread they set was perfect. On our 4-hour trip, we landed 5 quality kings and a big rainbow. They were even willing to stay out longer so we could hit our limit, but we had to head back to check out of our hotel. Todd was kind enough to wait so we could grab our luggage and still get pictures with our catch. Excellent charter—thank you, Todd and Dave! – Steve & Trissa

We booked our fishing trip with Captain Dave, and from start to finish he was excellent. He communicated clearly throughout the process, gave us helpful suggestions on what to bring (and what not to), and kept us updated on the weather. His boat was very organized, stocked with plenty of gear, and he wasted no time getting us on the water. Within the first 30 minutes, we were already getting bites! We caught numerous fish, and Dave made sure every family member had a fun and engaging experience. He was patient, kind-hearted, and professional—unlike some guides we’ve had in the past who were rough around the edges. Dave took the time to explain the history of the lake and walk us through the fishing process, which made the trip even more enjoyable. At the end, he carefully filleted and packaged each fish for us. This was by far the best fishing trip we’ve ever been on, and Dave is one of the best guides we’ve ever had. Highly recommend him 100%, and we can’t wait to come back again one day!

Both Dave and his deckhand were very kind, and we had an enjoyable time on the boat. That said, it’s tough to spend that kind of money and only bring in two fish. This was my third salmon charter in the last five years with different captains, and each time has had little to no success—so maybe it’s just bad luck, or maybe fishing on Lake Michigan can be hit-or-miss. Overall, Dave was great to work with and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him as a captain. I just find myself questioning if the cost is worth it when you have a full boat of five people and only two get to land a fish.

I took my wife, son, and son-in-law out for a morning charter, and it was a fantastic experience. The weather was perfect, and watching the sunrise over the water was unforgettable. It was my son-in-law’s first time fishing the Great Lakes, and he’s now hooked—one more item checked off his bucket list! The boat was very comfortable, and having a toilet on board gave my wife peace of mind. Captain Dave and first mate Todd clearly know their stuff and made the whole trip enjoyable. We ended the day with three limits to take home. Thank you, Fishin’ Da Net, for such a memorable trip!
