As spring approached, a significant opportunity arose, leading Michael to Montana—the realization of his childhood dream. In this picturesque setting, he landed a fly fishing guiding job that set the course for his future. Embracing the charm of Southwestern Montana, Michael established FishTales Outfitting, planting deep roots in the region. With more than twenty-five years of guiding experience under his belt, he has become an expert in navigating the waters of southwestern Montana and is eager to share this breathtaking landscape with others.

FishTales Outfitting offers an exceptional full-day fishing adventure on Montana’s renowned Beaverhead River. Capt. Mike and his team of seasoned guides are dedicated to providing an unparalleled fishing experience, ensuring you connect with the beauty of the outdoors while targeting various trout species. Their approach is highly personalized, catering to your specific needs and preferences to make your trip memorable and enjoyable.

The guided trips span 8 hours and allow you to pursue species such as Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Cutthroat Trout, depending on the time of year and current weather conditions. Capt. Mike’s preferred method is drifting, but he also offers walk/wade trips, giving you flexibility in how you want to experience the water. He takes pride in his attention to detail and aims to maximize your enjoyment and success during the excursion.

Fishing will be conducted on foot as well as aboard a 14-foot Clackacraft boat, designed to safely accommodate up to 2 anglers. The boat is equipped with an ice box to keep your refreshments cool. All necessary fishing gear, including rods, reels, and terminal tackle, is provided, allowing you to focus solely on your fly fishing experience.

Get your fishing license before the trip. Bait is not included; check with Capt. Mike. All fishing is catch-and-release. Your trip includes snacks, drinks, and lunch. Children are welcome. Departure details will be arranged with the captain.
