Book with Chappy Chappell
Captain “Chappy” Chappell, a dedicated native of Charleston, represents the heart and soul of this beautiful city. Born and raised not just on Tradd St. but along the stunning shores that define Charleston, he has a deep-rooted connection to the waters of the Lowcountry. Growing up fishing and boating in the Charleston area has afforded him experiences that many can only dream of, from serene mornings on the marshes to thrilling battles with trophy fish. This lifelong passion has fostered an immense appreciation for the unique ecosystem and fishing culture of the region, and he feels incredibly blessed to share this vibrant life with his family and clients.
For Captain Chappy, fishing transcends personal enjoyment; it is about crafting unforgettable memories for those he takes out on the water. He believes that when clients are ready to chase trophy redfish in the picturesque Lowcountry marshes, they deserve a captain who prioritizes their experience above all else. Unlike captains from large charter operations who might focus on reeling in fish while sitting stationary for the day, Captain Chappy guarantees an engaging, dynamic outing. His approach is to ensure that clients actively participate in the fishing experience, making it both exciting and fulfilling, no matter their skill level.
With Captain Chappy, clients are not merely passengers on a boat; they become integral parts of an adventure tailored to their desires and preferences. He takes pride in providing personalized service, ensuring that each fishing trip is as unique as the individuals on board. His extensive knowledge of the local waters allows him to adapt to changing conditions and target a variety of species, ensuring that every trip is both productive and enjoyable.
Captain Chappy offers inshore fishing charters, specializing in sight and fly fishing, that are perfect for both beginners and experienced anglers alike. Each charter includes all the necessary amenities: fishing licenses, a cooler packed with ice, top-quality tackle, bait, gas, and, most importantly, wild entertainment. He believes that fishing is not just about catching fish; it’s about building camaraderie and sharing laughter as clients bond over their shared love for the outdoors.
Whether it’s the thrill of reeling in a trophy redfish or the tranquility of drifting through scenic marshlands, Captain Chappy is committed to providing an unparalleled fishing experience in Charleston.

Was in town visiting family and took my daughter and her boyfriend out for the 4hr onshore fishing charter and couldn’t been happier. Captain Chappy was everything you’d want in a fishing captain. He was attentive, communicated well, had good equipment and most of all was very knowledgeable. We caught a good variety of fish. I HIGHLY recommend choosing Flatsbroke Fishing when in the Charleston area. If were ever back to the area we will definitely choose him as our captain again.

Capt Chappy was amazing! We mainly caught red drum but also hooked a shark and a stingray. We caught so many in our 4 hour trip, we lost count! He was great working with our two kids and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Will definitely book again when we are back in Charleston!

Captain Chappy orchestrated one of the best days of fishing we have had together! My dad got his first inshore grandslam! My two small boys cranked on some big reds pushing 30" from dock to dock it was first class. Thanks again pal!!!!
