Half Day Multi-Species Fishing on Lake St. Clair
Lake St. Clair is hands down one of the Great Lakes region's best kept secrets for anglers who want variety and action. This 5-hour charter puts you right in the heart of some of the most productive fishing waters in Michigan, where multiple species are feeding and fighting all season long. Captain Eric knows these waters like the back of his hand, and he's going to put you on fish – whether you're bringing the kids for their first real fishing adventure or you're a seasoned angler looking to add some new species to your list. We're talking Walleye, Northern Pike, Yellow Perch, Smallmouth Bass, and plenty of surprises that'll keep your rod bent and your drag screaming.
What to Expect on the Water
This isn't your typical sit-and-wait fishing trip. Lake St. Clair's diverse structure means we're constantly moving, reading the water, and adapting our approach based on what's biting. You'll start your morning meeting Captain Eric at the marina, where he'll have all the top-shelf gear ready to go – we're talking quality rods, reels that can handle whatever we hook into, and a fish finder that'll show us exactly where the action is. The beauty of this charter is the variety. One minute you might be working a weedline for Pike, the next you're jigging for Walleye over a drop-off, then suddenly the Perch are schooled up and it's game on. Captain Eric brings live bait and knows exactly which presentations work best for each species we're targeting. The 5 hours fly by because there's always something happening, and you'll learn techniques that'll make you a better angler long after the trip ends.
Proven Techniques & Top Spots
Lake St. Clair's fishing success comes down to understanding the lake's unique characteristics – it's relatively shallow with incredible weed growth, multiple channels, and structure that holds different species throughout the day. Captain Eric uses a combination of trolling, jigging, and live bait presentations depending on what we're targeting and where the fish are positioned. The boat's equipped with a high-quality fish finder that lets us mark schools before we even drop a line. For Walleye, we'll often work the deeper channels and drop-offs with jigs tipped with live minnows or crawlers. When we're after Northern Pike, it's all about the weedlines – we'll throw spinnerbaits, spoons, and live suckers near the vegetation where these ambush predators love to hide. Yellow Perch fishing is pure fun – once you find a school, it's often non-stop action with small jigs and minnows. The key is staying mobile and reading the conditions, which is exactly what separates a good guide from a great one.
Customer Stories
"If you're looking for a fun and successful fishing trip, Captain Eric with Get Hooked Fishing Charters is the perfect guide! I took three 13-year-old boys on a trip, and they had an absolute blast. Captain Eric came prepared with live bait, high-quality rods, and a Fish Finder, teaching us effective techniques to get the fish biting—and it worked! The boys were busy reeling them in and loving every minute. He's great with all ages, easy to talk to, and even helped us find extra gear at the marina for fishing back at our Airbnb. The 5 hours flew by, and before we knew it, he was expertly filleting our catch. We had such an amazing experience that I'd return to Lake St. Clair and Anchor Bay/New Baltimore just to fish with him again. While no one can guarantee results, Captain Eric's hard work and dedication make it hard to imagine coming up empty. 10/10 recommend—can't wait for the next trip" - Ashley
"We had an absolute blast fishing with Captain Eric, and he was a huge part of what made our charter so incredible. Our goal was simple—catch fish, and then catch some epic fish—and we did both! Of course, we know fishing can be hit or miss, but this trip was nothing short of amazing. We landed six different species, including tons of Walleye, White Bass, Yellow Perch, a big Drum, a monster Channel Catfish, and even a Musky! We even hooked a flag with a little Bass attached—definitely a first! Huge thanks to Captain Eric for being such a kind, knowledgeable, and personable guide. He made the experience unforgettable, and we can't recommend him enough. Five stars all the way!" - Richard
Species You'll Want to Hook
Northern Pike are the apex predators of Lake St. Clair and they'll test both your drag and your nerves. These toothy giants love the extensive weed beds that Lake St. Clair is famous for, especially during the warmer months when they're actively feeding. Pike in the 28-36 inch range are common, with the occasional monster pushing 40 inches or more. They hit hard and fight dirty – expect explosive strikes followed by jumps, head shakes, and powerful runs toward the nearest weed cover. What makes Pike fishing here so special is the clear water lets you see the follows, and there's nothing quite like watching a big Pike slowly swim up behind your lure before absolutely crushing it. They're most active during early morning and evening hours, but Lake St. Clair's Pike will bite throughout the day if you know where to find them.
American Yellow Perch might be smaller than our other target species, but pound-for-pound they're some of the scrappiest fighters you'll encounter. Lake St. Clair's Perch are known throughout the region for their size and numbers – we're talking jumbo Perch in the 10-13 inch range that actually bend your rod and make your drag sing. They school up in massive numbers over specific structure, and when you find them, it's often fast and furious action where everyone on the boat stays
