One for the books today! Michael and their crew joined me for an early morning fall trip out on the Texas flats. Weather was solid for November and we had good conditions to work with. Spring Break Action
Matagorda anglers are making the most of spring break, with solid catches hitting the docks! Little Milo and the crew had a great day on the water, putting together a mixed bag of sheepshead, trout, and redfish. The bite has been steady, offering plenty of action for those getting out on the water. Sheepshead are stacking up around structure, eager to take live shrimp or fiddler crabs. Speckled trout are biting well on soft plastics and live bait, especially in the early morning hours. Redfish continue to cruise the shallows, with slot-sized fish taking cut bait, shrimp, and artificials. Now’s a great time to hit the water and bring home a fresh catch. Took a half day with Fern and by far best experience we have had with a guide. Very knowledgeable, personable and friendly, not just there to make money, he cares about making sure you have a great time! Each person limited on trout and got a 38” bull red all on a short time.

You're not going to find a better Matagorda bay fishing guide than Capt. Fern. My son and I spent a full day with Fern and we caught limits of trout, redfish and a flounder. My son caught his personal best speck, and another highlight for him was catching a small blacktip shark. Fern was a great instructor and just a fun guy to be around. He is very laid back, but he's also completely wired into the Matagorda Bay fishing. My son was having so much fun that we stayed out longer than expected. I can't recommend him enough. Thanks Fern!
