If you're looking to make the most of your time in San Antonio, look no further than Gonzalez Guide Service. Led by the experienced Captain Roland, this charter is all about putting guests on fish while making the entire experience smooth, laid-back, and memorable. Whether you're a first-time angler or a seasoned pro, Capt. Roland knows how to guide you through the area's rich freshwater fishery and create a day worth talking about.
The waters around San Antonio are full of fishing potential, with Redfish and Catfish being some of the main targets. These species offer plenty of action, and with a bit of luck, you’ll be reeling them in before you know it. Depending on the conditions and time of year, you may troll or bottom fish using light tackle—an approach that balances fun with effectiveness. Capt. Roland is happy to walk you through everything, so there's no need to be an expert. All experience levels are welcome aboard.
Your adventure takes place on a 24’ Pathfinder bay boat, built with fishing and comfort in mind. With space for up to 5 guests, it’s a great setup for families, friends, or anyone looking to enjoy a calm day on the water. The boat is equipped with downriggers, safety gear, and all the essentials to give you a solid edge when hunting for your catch. Capt. Roland provides all the rods, reels, and tackle, so you can just show up ready to fish. Live bait is available depending on the trip, and you can even catch it yourself if you'd like—just ask the captain ahead of time.
Before heading out, remember to purchase a Texas fishing license. It’s easy to get online, and Capt. Roland can point you in the right direction if you need help. Some species may have specific regulations or seasonal rules, so checking ahead of time helps ensure everything goes smoothly.
To stay comfortable throughout the day, don’t forget to pack essentials like sunblock (non-spray), a hat, polarized sunglasses, snacks, and bottled water. You’re welcome to bring alcohol in moderation, but please avoid hard liquor and glass containers. Capt. Roland prioritizes safety while making sure the vibe stays fun and easygoing.
From start to finish, Gonzalez Guide Service is focused on giving guests more than just a fishing trip—it’s a chance to unwind, connect with nature, and enjoy the peaceful waters of South Texas. When you're ready to catch fish and enjoy good company, Capt. Roland is ready to welcome you aboard.

Kyle was a friendly and knowledgeable captain who made our fishing trip along the Detroit River unforgettable. He was incredibly instructive, and we learned a ton while reeling in fish non-stop—including a trophy-sized smallmouth! It was an amazing day packed with action and great memories.

We had an incredible time reeling in some big bass—they were massive! And you should’ve seen the one that got away… it was a monster! All around, a fantastic time on the water.

The trip got off to a rough start due to how tricky the app made it to communicate with the captain, and we had two weather-related cancellations. But once everything was sorted out, we had a great time on the water. Kyle prioritizes safety above all, even if it means making last-minute calls—which we truly appreciated. Luckily, we had a flexible 3-day window. He really knows his stuff, and I’d absolutely book with him again. My son’s already asking when our next fishing trip will be!

Kyle is a top-notch captain! We went out late in the season for walleye and hit our limit in just a few hours—plus landed some real lunkers. There were a few other boats nearby, but none were having the success we were. Great gear, expert knowledge, and a super friendly attitude—couldn’t ask for more. Thanks, Kyle!
