Private Panama City Beach Inshore Fishing Charter
Captain Jeremy's got the inside scoop on Panama City Beach's best inshore fishing spots, and he's ready to put you on the fish. This 6-hour private charter targets some of the Gulf's most prized species – Red Snapper, Gag Grouper, and King Mackerel – in waters that consistently produce quality catches. Whether you're a weekend angler or just getting your feet wet, Jeremy's hands-on approach means you'll learn proper techniques while actually landing fish. All tackle, bait, and equipment come with the trip, so you can focus on what matters most: getting your line in the water and feeling that rod bend.
What to Expect on the Water
Your day starts at the local marina where Captain Jeremy will have everything rigged and ready. Don't be surprised if you make a quick stop for live bait – fresh pogies and pinfish make all the difference when targeting these Gulf species. The ride out to the fishing grounds takes about 30 minutes, giving you time to get comfortable with the gear and soak in some local knowledge. Jeremy knows these waters like the back of his hand, and he's not shy about sharing what he's learned over years of guiding. You'll hit 4-5 different spots throughout the day, adapting to conditions and fish movement. The beauty of inshore fishing here is the variety – one drop might produce snapper, the next could have grouper, and you never know when a king mackerel will crash your party.
Tackle and Techniques
Jeremy runs quality gear that can handle everything from schoolie snapper to hefty gag grouper. You'll be fishing with medium-heavy spinning rods paired with conventional reels, spooled with enough line to handle the rocky bottom structure these fish call home. Bottom fishing with live and cut bait is the bread and butter here – circle hooks keep the fish hooked solid while giving you the best chance at a clean release if needed. Jeremy takes the time to show proper casting technique, how to read your rod tip for bites, and the right way to work a fish up from the bottom without losing it in the structure. For kings, you might switch to trolling with spoons or live bait, covering water until you find the schools.
Customer Stories
"We had a great trip with Captain Jeremy. We were pushed a day due to weather, which wasn't an issue at all (can't control the weather), we waited for about 30 minutes after we arrived, Captain had to get bait. When we made it out on the water, we stopped again to get live bait. We drove for about 30 minutes to the first fishing spot, all the while my brother in law and Captain Jeremy were chatting it up. On the way out we got the chance to see dolphins and enjoyed the F-22 flyovers, front be Air Force base nearby. The weather was great, we moved to 4 to 5 different spots throughout the day. Fish weren't biting (can't control that) the captain did everything he could to get fish on our hooks. At the last spot of the day we ended up catching 10 vermillion snappers (they tasted amazing). One of the best things about fishing trip was that the Captain taught us how he fishes, he was telling us what to expect, how to properly cast (so not to create a birds nest in the reel), he showed us what the rod would look like when a fish was on and how to properly reel it in. He also made sure to watch our lines and coach us until we caught one, then let us go in our own. It was also nice when he showed us how to properly bait the hook and told us if he was busy with one of us to not wait and just go. I liked that a lot. Sometimes the captains make you feel like a child when you have to wait for them to bait the hook. This captain wanted us to fish and get as many as possible in the time we had. I would highly recommend Captain Jeremy. He was even telling us the best way to cook the fish, told us how to make a good ceviche, and all around great fisherman. If you want to have a great fishing trip with a true Panama City Fisherman, Captain Jeremy is your man." - Joe
Species You'll Want to Hook
King Mackerel are the speed demons of the Gulf, and Panama City Beach sits right in their migration path. These silver bullets can stretch the tape anywhere from 20 to 40+ pounds, with their razor-sharp teeth and blistering runs that'll test your drag system. Summer through early fall is prime time, when they're moving through in schools chasing baitfish. What makes kings so exciting is their aggressive nature – when they hit, there's no question you've got a fish on. They'll make long runs, jump, and generally raise hell until you get them to the boat. The fight is just half the fun – kings are excellent table fare when handled properly, with firm white meat that's perfect for the grill or smoker.
Red Snapper are the crown jewel of Gulf bottom fishing, and these Panama City waters hold some real quality fish. During the federal season (typically summer months), you can keep these beauties, and they're worth every bit of effort it takes to land them. Reds are structure-oriented fish that live around rocky bottom, artificial reefs, and natural ledges in 30-100+ feet of water. They're notorious for their powerful initial run straight down when hooked, trying to cut your line on the rocks. A good red snapper will run 5-15 pounds on average, with the occasional trophy pushing 20+. Their bright red coloration and distinctive profile make them unmistakable, and their sweet, flaky meat is considered some of the best eating in the Gulf.
Gag Grouper are the bulldogs of the bottom, using pure muscle to try and drag your bait back to their rocky hideouts. These brown and tan mottled fighters can reach impressive sizes – anything over 10 pounds is a solid fish, while 20+ pounders
