Throughout the year, Captain Derrick guides numerous anglers on rewarding, fish-filled, and enjoyable trips. With a fishing passion since the age of 8 and a decade of experience in Galveston waters, Captain Derrick has been a dedicated full-time guide for the past five years, successfully putting countless fishing enthusiasts on their desired catches.
Step aboard Captain Derrick's 36’ Contender center console, powered by three reliable 225 HP Yamaha engines, ideal for offshore journeys. The boat is equipped with GPS, a fishfinder, VHF radio, safety gear storage, an ice box, a live bait well, and top-notch fishing gear by Ugly Sticks and Penn. Accommodating up to six people, it ensures a comfortable and exciting fishing expedition.
Captain Derrick's trips include exploring jetty waters for tablefare such as Redfish, Black Drum, Speckled Trout, Flounder, or Sheepshead. Captain Corey and Captain Derreck aka Chop did everything to put us on the fish. The boat was top notch as was the tackle and rods and reels. They knew all the honey holes and we hit em hard. Most of all, we began a great father’s day fishing tradition. . To the father’s, I know you have set the bait, cleared lines, re-tied knots, cleaned the fish, and all to teach tour young’ns the joy of fishing. Bravo, I did too. But when you want to relax, and actually fish yourself, let the pros like Chop and Corey do the heavy lifting. It was a totally different and much more joyful experience.

We swam with the sharks, we caught serval bull reds, and two sharks. We had a great time, the 4 hour trip went by so fast with all that action. Next time we will be booking a longer trip. Thanks Derrick.

Wanted to take my Dad out as he’s a retired Army Veteran. Decided last minute to book this trip12 hours before leaving the doc. The captain and hand on deck were friendly, professional, and we could tell they cared. My Dad and I have been fishing our whole lives but still learned a lot from them. If the photos don’t say enough… I highly recommend In The Zone Fishing Charter. Can’t wait for our next trip.
