Private 6 Hour You Tell Me Trips - Point Pleasant
Here's something different – a fishing charter that actually listens to what you want to do. Our 6-hour "You Tell Me" trips out of Point Pleasant are exactly that: your call, your pace, your perfect day on the water. Whether you're dead set on hitting the flats for some light tackle action, want to mix in a lunch stop at one of the waterfront spots, or the kids are begging to try some tubing between fishing spots, we'll make it happen. Point Pleasant's central location along the Jersey Shore puts us within easy reach of prime inshore waters, from the back bays to the inlet, and everywhere in between. With just your group of up to 6 people aboard, you're not stuck following someone else's agenda.
What to Expect on the Water
This isn't your typical charter where you show up and hope for the best. Before we even leave the dock, we'll talk through what makes your ideal day – are you looking to put the kids on some action with smaller fish, or do you want to chase bigger targets in deeper water? Maybe you want to spend half the day fishing and the other half cruising to spots like Barnegat Light or checking out Treasure Island. The beauty of Point Pleasant is we've got options everywhere you look. The Manasquan Inlet puts us right in the heart of some of New Jersey's most productive inshore waters, and places like Tices Shoal and F Cove are just a short run from the marina. We'll adjust our departure time to work with your schedule too – no need to be at the dock before sunrise unless that's what you're after.
Light Tackle & Custom Setups
Since every trip is different, we keep our tackle selection flexible. Light tackle fishing is where this boat really shines – there's something special about feeling every head shake and run on lighter gear that the heavy stuff just can't match. We'll set you up with the right rods and reels for whatever we're targeting, whether that's working soft plastics around structure, throwing topwater plugs in the shallows, or drifting bait in deeper holes. The inshore waters around Point Pleasant change with the seasons, and so do our techniques. Spring might have us working the warmer waters near the inlet mouth, while summer opens up the entire back bay system. Fall brings some of the best light tackle fishing of the year as baitfish stack up and predators follow. If someone in your group wants to try their hand at different techniques, we've got time to experiment – that's the whole point of having the boat to yourselves.
Species You'll Want to Hook
Point Pleasant's inshore waters are home to an impressive variety of fish throughout the season. Striped bass are the kings of our local waters, and for good reason. These fish can range from schoolie-sized 18-inchers that are perfect for kids and beginners, all the way up to trophy fish pushing 40+ pounds. What makes stripers so exciting is their unpredictability – they might crash topwater plugs in two feet of water at sunrise, or you might find them suspended over deeper structure in the afternoon. Peak season runs from April through November, with some of the most consistent action happening in May and again in October when they're feeding heavily during their migrations.
Fluke are another customer favorite, and Point Pleasant sits right in the heart of some of New Jersey's top fluke grounds. These flatfish are masters of disguise, burying themselves in sandy bottoms until an unsuspecting meal swims by. Summer fluke fishing here is world-class, with plenty of keeper-sized fish mixed in with some real doormat-sized specimens. What guests love about fluke fishing is the technique – it's active fishing where you're constantly working jigs and bucktails, feeling for that telltale thump when a fluke picks up your bait. The fight might not be the strongest, but there's nothing quite like the anticipation of seeing what's on the other end when a good fluke comes up from 20 feet of water.
Black sea bass have become increasingly popular targets, especially around structure and rocky areas. These fish are aggressive feeders and excellent table fare, making them perfect for families looking to bring dinner home. Sea bass fishing is straightforward but effective – drop a jig or bait to the bottom near rocks, wrecks, or reefs, and hold on. They're strong fighters for their size and often travel in schools, so when you find one, there are usually more around. The regulations change yearly, but when they're open, sea bass provide some of the most consistent action you'll find in our local waters.
Time to Book Your Spot
The best part about these custom trips is that no two are exactly alike. Maybe your group wants to start with some serious fishing at first light, grab lunch at one of the waterfront restaurants, then spend the afternoon letting the kids try wakeboarding or tubing. Or perhaps you're a group of dedicated anglers who want to spend all six hours chasing fish in different spots around the bay. Whatever your vision, we'll make it work. The flexibility to set your own departure time means you can plan around your schedule instead of ours. With Point Pleasant's reputation as one of New Jersey's top fishing destinations and our boat's ability to access both back bay shallows and deeper inlet waters, you're setting yourself up for a day that's tailored exactly to what you want.
