Non-stop bites all day long! That's how I'd sum up our summer fishing adventure on the Shenandoah River with Thomas. We set out from Lockes Landing in Harpers Ferry, WV early in the morning, ready to tackle some prime smallmouth bass waters. The weather was partly cloudy, with a chance of storms later in the day, but that didn't dampen our spirits one bit. As we pushed off from shore, I could already tell it was going to be a great day on the water for King Fisher Guide Services. With our gear rigged and ready, we wasted no time getting down to business. We employed a mix of fly fishing, float fishing, and bait casting techniques throughout the day, adapting to what the river was giving us. The Buckmarsh District lived up to its reputation, offering up some fantastic fishing opportunities. Thomas really got into the groove, and before long, we were hooking into some quality smallmouth bass. The highlight of the day came when Thomas landed a monster 26-inch smallmouth - a true river trophy that had us both grinning from ear to ear. We wrapped up the trip with great memories and a cooler full of fish. If you're looking to experience the thrill of Shenandoah River fishing for yourself, I can't recommend it enough. Our 1 Day or 2 Days River Float Fishing Adventure is the perfect way to explore these waters and target some hard-fighting smallmouth bass. Whether you're an experienced angler or new to the sport, the Shenandoah offers something for everyone. At King Fisher Guide Services, we specialize in creating unforgettable fishing experiences on the Shenandoah River. Our trips are tailored to make the most of the seasonal patterns and river conditions, ensuring you have the best chance at landing that trophy smallmouth. We provide all the necessary gear and expertise, so all you need to bring is your enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. From fly fishing techniques to bait casting and everything in between, we'll show you the ropes and help you dial in your approach. The Shenandoah River near Harpers Ferry, WV is a true gem for smallmouth bass fishing, and we'd love to share it with you. So if you're ready for an action-packed day on the water, give us a call and let's get your next fishing adventure on the calendar. Trust me, once you experience the beauty and excitement of fishing the Shenandoah, you'll be hooked for life!
Anglers report good catches of bass in the early morning and late afternoon, particularly around rocky structures and submerged vegetation. Topwater lures and soft plastics are producing favorable results. Sunfish are active near shoreline cover, biting on small jigs and live bait. Catfish action is steady in deeper pools and near submerged logs, with chicken liver and cut bait proving effective.
Winter is right around the corner, it's the time you can bet you're going to catch that trophy Smallmouth or Walleye! Start looking at your calendars to plan a day to get o out and on the river hunting that trophy. The meteorologists are saying we will have an El Nino winter. Which means more precipitation and warmer than average temps. A perfect time to grab some winter gear and get out on the river!
A long fish from skinny water! But it measured over 20"s and was a PB Smallie for John. Great day with great clients! It's not too late to get out, there's plenty of time to get your fish on!
When you're client tells you that want to break their PB. The fish must have heard him! He's a Texas guy and they don't have a ton of Smallie action down there. We're still booking September is close at hand which means hungry fish trying to pack on the pounds for the winter lull! 304 283 0815 www.wegofish.com
Another father and son duo. Both boated their PB Smallies coming in at 18.50"s. The sons fish is an old warrior, you can tell by the body shape and the wounds and scars. Book your "No Worries " trip today. Let us take care of all of the details!
More Tackleboxes less Xboxes! Take a kid fishing, make some memories! Funny thing is he excepted to catch 5 fish for a good day. He boated 20! 304 283 0815 www.wegofish.com
Long time Fly Fishing Client Joel booked us for a last minute solo angler trip. It was a beautiful day and everything felt right about fishing the Shenandoah River. I had been wanting to get Joel out on a stretch that he had only fished once in the 7 or 8 years he's been fishing with me. The day started a little slow but with a few fly changes we began to get into some Smallmouth Bass. When we hoped into the first ledge system the first cast landed a 20.50" 4lb post spawn Smallmouth Bass. Joel's first 20 with me. The water was skinny in the ledges and he did exactly what any seasoned Fly Guy could do to keep the fish off a life time from running into rocks to break him off. With in an hour he had another 20" Shenandoah Smallie in the boat! our was an epic day!
Took my Partner in Slime and another friend down the Shenandoah for a fun trip a bus man's holiday if you will. It was a beautiful day and we boated over 80 fish. The largest came out before lunch time. An area between ledges that we had thrown to many times with flukes, swimbaits and tubes. We pulled a quite a few fish out of this hole but nothing to write home about. I switched up baits putting the tube away and tying on a new to me Deps Cover Scat. Wham Bam Thank you ma'am 21"s and 5lbs of Tug. We had lots of worthy fish and numbers ta boot!
The Weather Forecast was calling for some rain in the morning. And it did just that starting out light with a few periods of heavier precipitation. the water was stained but not heavy. The game plan was flukes for running and gunning and tubes for when we were set up and stationary. Even though we had rain which eventually turned to a sunny day, we made it happen. And boated more than 40 fish!
Show bite with higher then normal dirty water. Fly Fishing at its finest. When you are given lemons make lemonade! Rick boated the biggest Smallmouth he's ever had in the fly measuring 19.50" 4.50lbs. Great job!
Beginning in April and ending in late May is when Smallmouth Bass begin to Spawn. Prior to Spawning is called the Prespawn. This is when Smallmouth Bass begin the ritual and become very aggressive and they will bite most anything that gets close to them. this is a great time to catch a trophy on both the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers. don't wait before it's too late!
The odds seemed stacked against us before the boat even hit the water. A weather front was on us. We gave it or best and came out on top. Over 60 fish boated with multiple citations and honorable mentions
Matt had a great day Fishing the Upper Potomac and landed this brute of a Prespawn Smallie. measuring over 20"s and just over 5lbs. We are in the first phases of Prespawn movement. This is an event that will last 3 weeks or so. get out there while the getting is good!
The weather is warming up and so is the Smallmouth Bass fishing on the Shenandoah River. Lots of back seat boat action going on. When you're in the zone, you are in the zone! Things are heating up on both the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers. Water temps got up to 62 today. If you are looking to experience Fly Fishing for Smallmouth Bass you have come to the right place!
Winter is the best time to catch that PB (Personal Best) fish of a Lifetime! The Smallmouth are in deeper water but can be called up to eat a Jerkbait. This is a great style to fish. As you retrieve your bait you'll sometimes see the fish appear out of the depths. Following your bait and strike it. It's as great as topwater strikes!

I have been fishing with Travis since 2017 - in fact our first trip together was the day of the solar eclipse! We had stellar fishing, an amazing picnic lunch on the river while we took a break to watch the eclipse. Travis is the kind of guide who truly wants you to enjoy the water, relax, maybe learn something new, and to get the most out of your experience. He'll surprise you with his intimate knowledge of smallmouth bass behavior, as well as the local fauna and flora as well. Over the years, I have taken my daughter fishing with Travis too where she learned how to fly fish and all about the amazing Shenandoah river. My favorite way to fish is in the dog days of summer with a popper but I was lucky enough to also fish for carp on the fly with Travis (but you got to go to know!) Whether its on the fly or using conventional gear, I can not recommend fishing with Travis enough.

Won't find a better guy out there on the river. Beyond knowledgeable of the river, wildlife and what the fish were biting on. The full day was beyond worth it even if you fish these rivers regularly. Travis is the the type of guy that make and keep these rivers what they are, don't hesitate to go with him

We did a full day guide service with Travis on the Shenandoah for small mouth bass, and had the absolute best time! Not only did we catch a lot of fish, but we had the most delicious lunch set up in a beautiful location near a little waterfall, ate right in the river!! Travis is full of information and knowledge about the region, had so many useful recommendations, and was just a great captain on the boat for the day. Would highly recommend using his guide service and would definitely go back!

Travis was excellent. Communication was great from first contact until the end of the trip. Very customer oriented!! He supplies and does everything, just show up. Part 2 2023; we went on a winter guided excursion with Travis in December 2023. As usual great food, great fishing, and great weather, if you’ve never tried winter fishing you need to book a trip with Travis. It was awesome.
