Lake Ida Fishing Charters is dedicated to making sure you have a great time on the water. Regardless of your fishing experience, Captain Mike Szabo will do his best to help you catch the fish of a lifetime. He is a native of South Florida who has been fishing these waterways for over fifty years since he was a child. As a kid, he won the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce youth fishing tournament. He used to be an active marathon runner and a competitive cyclist. With that amount of knowledge and experience by your side, any beginner is bound to become a skilled angler by the end of the day.
Your journey will start on a 21’ Maverick Master Angler boat that can sit up to 4 anglers. It’s powered by a 225 HP Yamaha engine. The boat uses a GPS, state-of-the-art Simrad electronic fish finder, trolling motor, power pole, 2 live bait wells, and casting platform.
Lake Ida is known for its freshwater species. You will be targeting three of the most famous ones: Largemouth Bass, Peacock Bass, and Clownknife Fish. Using light tackle, you’ll attract them by trolling and jigging.
Your captain will provide you with top-of-the-line Shimano reels, Star rods, tackle, and all live bait. Captain will also bring snacks and water for everyone to enjoy. The only thing you need to bring is your valid fishing license. You may also bring your preferred food and drinks and some sun protection.

Our first Florida fishing trip couldn’t have gone better. I booked a 6-hour outing on Lake Ida with Captain Brett for my wife and me, and everything from start to finish was smooth. Communication before the trip was quick and easy, and we met him right on time at the dock that morning. It was a fun day exploring the lake and its winding canals as we moved from one fishing spot to another. Captain Brett made everything effortless—setting up our rods, baiting lines, and sharing tips along the way. He knew every part of the lake and made sure we were comfortable throughout the trip. By the end of the day, we’d caught Clown Knifefish, Peacock Bass, Largemouth Bass, and a few native Cichlids. Captain Brett truly knows his stuff and made the whole experience enjoyable. We can’t wait to come back and fish Florida again!

Captain Cody had us on the fish in no time, and before we knew it, we’d caught over 30! His gear is top-notch, and his knowledge of Lake Ida really shows. He stayed on top of everything—rebaiting hooks, keeping us fishing, and making sure we had a great time on the water.

Captain Bobby Kimble is the real deal. He knows South Florida’s fisheries inside and out and will put you right on the fish. My dad and I both caught our personal best Peacock Bass with him, even with the bite slowing down before the polar vortex. Bobby’s skill, patience, and expertise made the trip unforgettable. We’d recommend him to anyone looking for both quality and quantity on the water.
