It was a bad day to be a minnow. 71 fish caught

Last time out Greg and I hooked up again to go fish a different area on our quest to “eliminate water”… lol We got started about 6:30 minnow rigging a main river flat. He caught 2 right off the bat… Keeping size crappie were very bad scattered but the 52 shorts kept us entertained the whole time. The best bite for the most part was in 20-15 fow at about average 10-13 feet deep. We got on a good run towards the end of the morning once we made it to a flat off a channel swing. These fish were in 13 fow for the most part…. We ended the day with 19 keepers. Good quality fish too. WT was 65. With the heat wave this week that likely rose it up to the low 70’s. That’ll help the post spawn bite hopefully. Lake elevation was 1128.5 and water clarity was stained. Normal river color to me for Beaver Lake.Setup was rigging 16ft BnM BGJP’s and 1/2oz rigs minnow rigs. Caught a lot. Hopefully this heat will improve things. Expecting a total different pattern this week Good fishing Lance

Fishing in Greg’s new boat

Dare I say it!! We finally get a week with no flooding amounts of rain… Hopefully the lake can start to stabilize…Last time out I jumped in my friend Greg’s new boat. The night before we got it outfitted for rigging and planned to fish that method the next day. We got launched about 5:30 heading to a feeder creek. We fished in there for about 2 hours and wasn’t doing much good. We caught several shorts but just wasn’t seeing many keeping size fish. I told Greg this is what us professional guides call “ eliminating water” lol… Let’s go eliminate some more lol..We decided to make a move to another feeder creek. Once there we caught a keeper right off. Catching immediately picked up. Just still not many keepers. We stayed at it searching and covering water. We catch a keeper here and there. The little ones kept us busy in between keepers. We got on a decent pattern and started picking keepers off once we moved out deeper closer to the creek channel. Lake elevation was 1129.3. Water clarity was stained in the creek arms and mud in the river. WT was 65. Best bite was in 22-25 fow at about 6-13 feet deep. It’s a grind out there. They pretty scattered but stick with it and you’ll catch at least a limit or close to it. We caught 55 total crappie with 13 of them being keepers.
