Our group of 11 had an incredible 6-hour adventure today under the expert guidance of Captain Lawrence and first mate Mike. Our excursion was divided into two exciting segments - the first half dedicated to bottom fishing, and the second half devoted to inshore shark fishing. Captain Lawrence's skillful navigation ensured we stayed on the fish throughout the day, while first mate Mike tirelessly ensured we were well-equipped with bait and efficiently managed the cutting and handling of the fish we reeled in. In the end, our efforts paid off handsomely, yielding an impressive catch of approximately 40-50 Black Sea bass, a sizable barracuda, and four remarkable sharks, two of which measured an impressive 5.5-6 feet. To top it off, Captain Lawrence and Mike expertly filleted our entire catch, allowing us to return home with an abundance of delicious seafood. Beyond their angling expertise, both Captain Lawrence and Mike left a lasting impression as two of the friendliest individuals to share the water with, engaging seamlessly with our entire family. The boat provided ample fishing space for everyone, and the strategically placed canopy proved indispensable, offering much-needed shade on a particularly hot day. Our experience was so exceptional that we are already planning our next outing with them on our next visit to Myrtle Beach. Initially, we held some reservations when Mike, the Mate, mentioned that our fishing adventure would include pursuing large sharks, especially given that we had our young children with us, aged 11 and 7. However, Captain Lawrence and Mike provided us with assurances that everything would proceed smoothly, and they certainly delivered on that promise! Our journey to the open ocean was brief and uneventful, with Lawrence at the helm. Mike took the opportunity to acquaint us with the vessel and safety protocols while also preparing the net for bait. The moment we engaged with that net was an absolute delight. Mike managed to coax a couple of the teenagers on board to assist in pulling it in, resulting in the most uproarious and amusing sight that my wife and I witnessed during our entire vacation. Even my daughter decided to sit in the live well, attempting to gain better leverage but ended up drenched instead. It was a moment of shared laughter and bonding. As we eagerly watched, Lawrence and Mike emptied the net onto the deck, causing a flurry of activity as the kids attempted to corral the fish we intended to use as bait. Meanwhile, we were all captivated by the fascinating presence of a horseshoe crab. This hands-on experience with sea life far surpassed what we'd encountered at the local aquarium. While we continued to absorb knowledge about the various creatures brought up from the depths, Lawrence explained the fishing process. Just as he was detailing the expected events, it happened—a rod suddenly bent in half, catching us all by surprise. Little did we anticipate the swiftness of this thrilling encounter. This unexpected catch set the pace for the following couple of hours. At one point, we had three sharks hooked simultaneously, and we successfully reeled all of them in. Although we were only permitted to keep one shark for the boat, we managed to land an impressive total of 13. The proficiency and expertise displayed by Captain Lawrence and Mike were truly commendable. We had planned a substantial day at the beach after our fishing excursion, but we found ourselves utterly exhausted from all the reeling and contentedly full from savoring our freshly caught shark. As a result, most of us opted to relax around our vacation condo instead. Such was the impact of our experience that we're eagerly anticipating our next adventure, scheduled for this coming July.

Our group consisted of four adults and three kids, and I must say, every single one of us had a fantastic time, despite a few bouts of sea sickness. Our efforts paid off, and we ended up reeling in an impressive four sharks, with one of them being substantial enough to keep. The experience was so enjoyable that we're now in the early stages of planning an annual fishing trip to continue these fantastic adventures.
