Longbranch Guide Service is led by Captain Tim Howell, a seasoned crappie fishing guide in Mississippi with a lifetime of experience chasing big slabs. Based in northwest Mississippi, Tim has spent over eight years guiding full-time on three of the region’s most productive lakes: Grenada, Enid, and Sardis. His reputation for consistency and in-depth knowledge makes him a go-to choice for anglers seeking Mississippi trophy crappie fishing.

When you book a Mississippi crappie fishing charter with Longbranch Guide Service, you’re signing up for a trip that’s all about catching quality crappie—nothing else. Captain Tim offers guided trips year-round and adjusts locations based on seasonal patterns and current conditions. His day-to-day presence on the water, combined with communication among other local guides, ensures guests are always fishing the most productive areas. Whether you’re fishing solo or bringing a group, Tim is ready to deliver a dialed-in experience.

Longbranch Guide Service runs trips on Grenada, Sardis, and Enid—three lakes known nationwide for producing heavy, slab-sized crappie. Grenada Lake, in particular, is widely recognized as a top destination, and the best time for crappie fishing in Grenada Lake Mississippi typically falls during the spring and fall when the fish are most active. These lakes provide a mix of structure and depth that create prime conditions for targeting trophy fish.

Captain Tim runs a 2022 Skeeter ZXR21, a 22-foot vessel built for comfort, stability, and serious fishing. Powered by a 250 HP Yamaha engine, the boat reaches cruising speeds up to 65 mph, getting you to the bite fast. Equipped with Garmin LiveScope, a trolling motor, fish finder, downriggers, and a bait tank, every trip is backed by cutting-edge technology that helps pinpoint crappie with precision.

Crappie fishing techniques used include trolling and single-pole setups—both effective and beginner-friendly. Guests will need to purchase a valid Mississippi fishing license in advance. Be sure to bring your own snacks, lunch, and drinks—just leave the alcohol at home. Whether you’re a first-timer or a returning client, everything is designed to make your outing enjoyable and productive.

Crappie Report – Mississippi Morning Slabs!

James and Terry hit the water early and stacked up a solid mess of crappie this morning! The bite was steady, and the slabs were definitely showing out. Grenada Lake Crappie Fishing Report – Mississippi

Crappie fishing at Grenada Lake is currently producing excellent results as we move into one of the most productive times of the year. With water temperatures rising into the low 60s, crappie are staging near shallow flats, timber, and brush piles. Anglers targeting fish in 6 to 10 feet of water are seeing the best action. Both single pole fishing and spider rigging are delivering solid results. Bright-colored jigs—particularly in chartreuse, pink, and white—have been the most effective, especially when tipped with minnows. The bite tends to be more active during early morning and late afternoon hours, so plan your trip accordingly. Wind has been a factor on some days, so protected coves and sheltered areas have been hot spots for steady bites. The lake level is stable, and water clarity is fair to slightly stained depending on location. Grenada remains one of the top destinations for Mississippi trophy crappie fishing, with many anglers catching fish over 2 pounds. This is an ideal time to book a guided trip with a local crappie fishing guide in Mississippi who knows where the slabs are stacking up. Don’t forget—anglers must have a valid Mississippi fishing license, and it’s a good idea to pack your own snacks, lunch, and drinks (no alcohol allowed on guided trips).

I believe you’d be hard pressed to find a better guide in MS. Knows his stuff and is very friendly. Cold front blew in last night and wind was kicking today, but he worked his tail on finding fish and put us on a limit. Definitely will be back!
