Fishing Report Late August Early September

Fishing Report: Fort Lauderdale Aboard Marlin My Darlin – Week of 8/27/24** Summertime fishing continues to be red hot! Offshore, everything seems to be biting, making it a perfect time to wrap up summer with an unforgettable fishing trip. Here’s the latest update from aboard the Marlin My Darlin: Offshore Fishing: Mahi-mahi fishing has been productive. While there are plenty of smaller fish, we’ve also encountered some sizable schools recently, with a few decent-sized mahi mixed in. This time of year, hurricanes often bring along floating debris, enhancing mahi-mahi fishing consistency. Reef Fishing: Trolling along the reef has been outstanding. We’ve had large catches of king mackerel, bonitos, and blackfin tunas. The fishing has been the most consistent we’ve seen all summer. We’ve also hooked a few larger wahoos and even a couple of sailfish. These fish are mostly caught by trolling along the reef with planers, spoons, strips, and ballyhoos for rigger baits, in water depths ranging from 70 to 400 feet. Bottom/Wreck Fishing: Over the past couple of weeks, there’s been a noticeable increase in catches of snappers, groupers, amberjacks, tilefish, and blackbelly rosefish. Most of these fish are caught by dropping chunks of squid or live baits to the bottom, especially around shipwrecks and specific reef spots. This technique is effective at depths between 100 and 350 feet, particularly on days with minimal current and favorable conditions. Swordfishing: Swordfishing remains strong as we head into the season. While we look forward to the larger catches typically seen in winter, we’re currently catching swordfish from depths of 1,500 to 2,000 feet. Due to the challenging nature of reeling from such depths, we use electric reels during the day. Nighttime swordfishing is done with traditional rods and reels, employing specialized nighttime techniques. — Book your trip now for an unparalleled fishing experience and finish the summer on a high note with Marlin My Darlin! August 2024

This Week’s Fort Lauderdale Charter Fishing Report (8/14/24) Greetings, anglers! If you’ve been thinking about hitting the water, now is the time. The fishing in Fort Lauderdale over the past couple of weeks has been absolutely on fire. Both reef fishing and offshore adventures have been delivering phenomenal results. As summer winds down and before the kids head back to school, there’s no better opportunity to enjoy a sun-soaked day of fishing. Offshore Fishing: The hunt for mahi-mahi has been nothing short of excellent. Most boats venturing out are catching a good mix of smaller school-size fish along with a few sizable ones in the mix. We’ve been finding them anywhere from 600 feet of water out to 2000 feet. While there’s not much seaweed to be found, the key has been spotting small birds which often signal the presence of fish below. Reef Fishing: Reef fishing has also been sensational. We’ve been trolling between 80 feet and 400 feet of water, reeling in tons of bonitas, king mackerel, blackfin tuna, and the occasional wahoo and sailfish. This is an excellent time of year to pull planers along the reef, enhancing your chances of a good catch. The sailfishing has been a tad slower, with only a few being caught around the reef. However, most of these have been nabbed while trolling rather than using live bait. Bottom Fishing: Bottom fishing has remained pretty consistent, offering a diverse array of catches. We’ve seen smaller amberjacks, vermillion snappers, yelloweye snappers, and even a few small snowy groupers. Additionally, large barracudas and some nice mutton snappers have been making appearances. Swordfishing: Offshore swordfishing is on the upswing, with daytime drops yielding some larger fish weighing between 150 and 300 pounds. This technique involves using electric reels to fish at depths ranging from 1700 to 2000 feet. With Rigged squid, Bonita, and Mahi belly for Bait. Looking Ahead: We’re eagerly anticipating September, known for the Mahi Mahi run that often follows the hurricane season. Hurricanes might bring some extra debris into the water, creating perfect conditions for mahi-mahi. It’s an exciting time, and we have plenty of openings to get you out on the water for an unforgettable fishing experience. Call for reservations (954)778-8173 www.all-inclusivesportfishing.com Let’s get out there and reel in some big catches! Tight lines, Marlin My Darlin Sportfishing

July 2024

Summertime Fishing is Red Hot! This week’s fishing report from Fort Lauderdale brings exciting news for anglers. Summertime fishing has been on fire, with an unprecedented number of Bonitas showing up lately. In addition to Bonitas, we’ve been seeing a healthy mix of Wahoos, Sailfish, and even some mahi-mahi on the reefs, making for a thrilling fishing experience. #### Sargassum Seaweed Update Compared to previous summers, we’ve faced much fewer issues with Sargassum seaweed. There’s just enough around to keep mahi fishing interesting without becoming a nuisance. #### Offshore Fishing The offshore fishing scene has been promising. Boats venturing 8 to 18 miles offshore have reported good catches of small school-size fish weighing between 3 to 5 pounds. We’ve also seen a few small Wahoos around the floating debris, known as “floaters.” #### Reef Fishing Fishing on the reef has been phenomenal over the last couple of weeks. There’s been an abundance of Bonitas, Kingfish, and Mahi, with a few big Wahoos mixed in. Trolling along the reef has provided plenty of action and excitement for anglers. #### Bottom Fishing Unfortunately, bottom fishing has been slow due to the excessive Gulf Stream currents, sometimes reaching up to 3 knots. These conditions have made inshore fishing challenging. On days when the current has slackened, we’ve managed to catch a handful of Vermillion Snappers, small Almaco Jacks, and even a few larger Amberjacks on some of the deeper shipwrecks. The Mutton Snapper fishing along the reef has been less than stellar, with only a few small fish being caught recently. #### Kite Fishing We haven’t done much kite fishing lately due to the lack of windy days. Although kite fishing is a technique we enjoy, the weather has not been conducive for it this time of year. #### Upcoming Weeks’ Forecast The forecast for the upcoming weeks looks fantastic for fishing. Now’s the time to book your fishing charter and make the most of these excellent conditions. #### Book Your Trip Ready to make unforgettable fishing memories? Give us a call to book your charter. We look forward to getting you out on the water for an incredible fishing experience! **Marlin My Darlin** ???? (954) 778-8173 ???? June 27, 2024 Fort Lauderdale Charter Fishing Report

Hello fellow anglers, The last couple of weeks have truly felt like summer in full swing, with hot temperatures and late afternoon thunderstorms gracing us daily. Such conditions often bring favorable opportunities for fishing, and this summer has been no exception. Reef Fishing Update The summertime migration of Bonitas and Kingfish has officially started along the reefs, accompanied by healthy numbers of Blackfin Tunas. There’s even been the occasional Wahoo sighting, adding a bit of excitement to our outings. The reef fishing has been very productive and promises great experiences for those keen on these species. Offshore Fishing Report Offshore Mahi fishing has been outstanding over the past few weeks. Several boats have reported reaching their limits, although there have been quite a few smaller catches mixed in. While some of these smaller fish are not yet legal size, it’s a positive indicator for the future of Mahi fisheries. Bottom Fishing Insight On the bottom fishing front, conditions have been less ideal due to weak currents and murky water. This has resulted in fewer Jacks; however, anglers have still enjoyed decent catches of small Vermillion Snapper, Mutton Snapper, and Yellowtail Snapper. The catch consistency has been a morale booster despite the slower action on the wrecks. Kite Fishing Observations Kite fishing has been challenging due to the calm seas and lack of wind, typical of summertime conditions. Nevertheless, on the few days we’ve managed to set up kites, there has been success with Blackfin Tuna, Kingfish, Barracudas, and even Sailfish—the highlight for many. Shark Fishing Outlook Summertime shark fishing has definitely ramped up, with frequent catches of large Sandbar Sharks, Bull Sharks, Hammerheads, and even some Tigers. If you have shark fishing on your bucket list, now is the perfect time to venture out and make that dream a reality. Looking Ahead As we move away from the dark side of the moon over the next few weeks, we anticipate even better fishing conditions. The forecast is promising, and we have plenty of availability for charters. Don’t hesitate to reach out and book your next fishing adventure with us. Tight lines! **Marlin My Darlin** (954) 778-8173 [www.all-inclusivesportfishing.com](https://www.all-inclusivesportfishing.com) We look forward to seeing you on the water!

Springtime Fishing is in Full Swing!** Greetings, fellow anglers! We’re thrilled to share that the fishing off the coast of Fort Lauderdale has been absolutely phenomenal over the past few weeks. The spring conditions have really started to show their benefits, and our adventures aboard “Marlin, My Darling” have yielded some fantastic catches. **Reef Fishing:** Trolling on the reef has seen a marked improvement recently. We’ve been consistently bringing in plenty of king mackerel and quite a few bonitos. On top of that, we’ve occasionally hooked into some wahoo, adding a nice touch of excitement to our outings. Additionally, there’s been a good mix of large blackfin tuna out on the reef, ranging in size from 5 to 20 pounds. Overall, it’s been a consistently great experience. **Offshore Fishing:** The offshore mahi fishing has been somewhat hit or miss, but the dedicated anglers among us have still managed to find success. We’ve caught numerous small school-sized mahis. With a few small Wahoos mixed in. **Kite Fishing** Overall, tight, Fishing has been the way to go. The strong currents have been a challenge, but it also made kite fishing especially productive. We’ve landed plenty of big springtime sailfish and large blackfin tuna, Mahi, while kite fishing. Not to mention, there have been sightings of some impressive sharks, including hammerheads, bull sharks, tigers, and even a couple of makos! **Weck and Bottom Fishing:** Amberjack and snapper fishing has been slower due to the strong currents. However, on those days when the current slows down, we’ve had decent success catching these species. Looking ahead, we’re excited for the rest of the spring season, which typically lasts another month. There’s still ample opportunity to join us on the water and experience fantastic fishing. April 2024

Greetings to all our angling enthusiasts! As we navigate through the vibrant weeks of spring, our fishing excursions off the Fort Lauderdale coast have been nothing short of spectacular. The seasonal transition has brought with it an abundance of life below the waves, making every trip a thrilling adventure. Here’s a comprehensive report of our recent catches and the conditions that have made this period exceptionally fruitful for our charters. **Weather and Sea Conditions** March has blessed us with ideal weather, featuring calm seas and ample sunshine, creating perfect conditions for deep-sea fishing. Aside from a few instances of adverse weather, our expeditions have enjoyed uninterrupted success, thanks in part to these favorable conditions. It’s imperative for potential visitors to note how such weather patterns significantly enhance the fishing experience in our region. **Spectacular Sailfish Sightings** A highlight of this season has been the outstanding sailfish action. These majestic creatures have been more abundant than ever, with sizes reaching up to the impressive 7-foot mark, indicating fully mature specimens. Most of these sailfish were skillfully captured using kite fishing techniques, a testament to the effectiveness of this method for targeting game fish in our waters. The increase in sailfish activity is a clear indicator of the thriving ecosystem off the Fort Lauderdale coast. **Trolling Triumphs** Our offshore trolling efforts have yielded impressive results, with a noteworthy increase in wahoo catches ranging between 20 to 40 pounds. Such success, especially during full moon phases, underscores the richness of our maritime habitat. Furthermore, mahi-mahi fishing offshore has displayed promising signs of improvement, with most catches consisting of school-sized fish averaging 3 to 6 pounds—a good omen for future outings. **Mixed Bag Near the Reefs** While trolling near the reef has been slower, offering a few king mackerel and small Bonitas, there’s been a surprising uptick in blackfin tuna catches, primarily in the afternoons. These blackfins, though currently on the smaller side, hint at the potential for larger specimens in the upcoming months, adding an exciting dimension to our nearshore fishing reports. **Shark Encounters of the Prime Kind** Spring has also heralded the arrival of some of the ocean’s most formidable predators. Reports of large hammerhead, sandbar, and even the occasional great white shark have stirred excitement among anglers seeking the ultimate trophy catch. This period, extending from March to June, with April and May being the peak months, is a prime time for those aiming to hook a monumental shark. In conclusion, the last few weeks off the Fort Lauderdale coast have been a testament to the rich, diverse, and vibrant marine life that defines our region. From awe-inspiring sailfish to the elusive sharks of the deep, every trip has provided unforgettable moments for our guests. We continue to welcome all who wish to partake in these extraordinary fishing opportunities, promising adventure, excitement, and, hopefully, your next great catch. Fort Lauderdale Charter Fishing Report – Spectacular Sailfish Surge

Greetings, Anglers! This week in Fort Lauderdale, a thrilling update awaits offshore enthusiasts—our latest charter fishing report brims with action and record-breaking catches! **Sailfish Bonanza Hits Fort Lauderdale** Recent temperature dips have set the stage for an exceptional phenomenon. Chilled currents have guided a stunning swarm of sailfish towards our shores, triggering an angling frenzy unlike any we’ve seen in recent years. In an incredible display of abundance, some of our charters have reported hauling in upwards of 20 sailfish in a single outing – sheer fishing nirvana! **Prime Time for the Sailfish Migration** Our captains are reveling in the thick of the sailfish migration, an annual dance typically spanning from December to April, with March being the apex. These majestic creatures, noted for their larger-than-average sizes this season, are on the move and biting. The skillful use of live bait suspended from kites, a cherished local technique, has been our secret weapon in attracting these spectacular fish. **Mahi-Mahi and Tuna Round-Up** While sailfish steal the spotlight, mahi-mahi has also graced our lines, sprinkled amidst the sailfish action. Blackfin tuna have added to the excitement, offering anglers a robust fight and the chance at a prized catch. A few lucky boats even clashed with the elusive yellowfin tuna, which have shown their might by testing our tackle limit. **Reef Trolling and Offshore Swordfishing** Trolling the reef has settled into its seasonal norm, yielding a dependable supply of kingfish—an expected delight during this period. Our focus, however, remains steadfast on live bait fishing. As for swordfishing, the offshore grounds maintain their allure with steady action. Over the coming months, we anticipate an upswing as these deep-water gladiators frequent our waters. Swordfish, targeted at profound depths — often reaching 2,000 feet — challenge even the most experienced anglers with their craftiness and are notorious for their tender mouths, resulting in a heart-wrenching escape rate of about 60%. **Wahoo and Shark Encounters** The wahoo presence has persisted, with a consistent catch rate that keeps anglers on their toes. And with spring upon us, the local shark population has been making its presence known. Sprinklings of impressive hammerheads and formidable tiger sharks have been an exhilarating addition to our expeditions, catering to the adventurous spirit of our clients who relish shark fishing. As the season unfurls, the anticipation grows. Stay hooked to our reports for the latest updates on what’s biting in the waters of Fort Lauderdale. Ring in the New Year with a thrilling Fort Lauderdale Charter Fishing report!

As the weather cools down, the Sailfish are heating up the action. We’ve been reeling in multiple fish in a single day, with some impressive big Sailfish making an appearance alongside scattered mahi. Using kites with live bait has been the go-to technique for winter fishing in South Florida, and it’s been paying off big time. Trolling along the reef has also been productive, with Bonitas, Wahoos, and even a few kingfish making an appearance. Unfortunately, bottom fishing has been slow, and with the new year comes the closure of grouper season, meaning we’ll have to release all of our shallow water groupers for the next few months. Despite this setback, the offshore mahi-mahi fishing has been quiet, but the wind has pushed plenty of action inshore along the reef, including Blackfin tuna and wahoos. As for shark fishing, it’s been relatively quiet overall. But fear not, as we move deeper into winter, the fishing is only going to get better. We’re looking forward to some epic days out on the water. Book your charter now and join us for an unforgettable fishing adventure. or you can follow us on social media.
