Captain Soto
Monster Fishing Quepos CR provides private sport fishing charters departing out of Marina Pez Vela in Quepos, Costa Rica. Led by Captain Soto—a veteran guide whose fishing background traces back 27 years across international waters—Monster Fishing Quepos CR provides offshore, inshore, and deep-drop trips tailored for anglers of all skill levels.
Located minutes from Manuel Antonio, Quepos is known for its diverse marine ecosystem and year-round game fish populations. Having returned to Quepos after spending extended time fishing abroad and in the USA, Captain Soto combines decades of broad maritime experience with strong knowledge of local Pacific currents.
Monster Fishing Quepos CR operates aboard a 30-foot Robalo (excluding motors) powered by twin 200 HP Suzuki engines, providing speed, stability, and comfort for up to six guests. The boat features full Garmin navigation electronics, VHF radio, standard safety equipment—including children's size life vests—a live bait well, high-grade fishing tackle, and an onboard portable restroom. Monster Fishing Quepos CR is pet-friendly, and customers are welcome to bring their dog on the boat.
Offshore trips focus on Pacific pelagics, including blue marlin, black marlin, striped marlin, Pacific sailfish, yellowfin tuna, and wahoo. Captain Soto uses proven trolling, live-baiting, and dead-bait techniques to find active feeding zones, with a strict commitment to catch-and-release billfishing. For inshore anglers, trips navigate the rocky islands and coastal reefs around Quepos and Manuel Antonio to target roosterfish and cubera snapper. Deep-drop fishing at 300-foot depths is also available for table species like red snapper and grouper. Guests can keep legal catches such as tuna, wahoo, and snapper, with dockside fish cleaning and filleting included.
Monster Fishing Quepos CR offers flexible half-day (4-hour), three-quarter-day (6-hour), and full-day (8-hour) private trips suited for experienced fishermen, beginners, and families with children. Standard basic refreshments provided on board include ice-cold beer, water, fresh fruit, sandwiches, and chips or crackers (with freshly prepared lunch options on 6-hour and 8-hour trips). Custom food and drink requests can be arranged prior to departure.
Please note: Fishing licenses are required for all guests and are not included in the trip price. Licenses must be purchased prior to departure, either at Marina Pez Vela or online via Incopesca.
