We'll run you out to some of our favorite shallow water spots – places where the bottom structure holds plenty of spiny lobsters but won't have you diving in 20 feet of water. Most of our hunting happens in 6 to 12 feet, perfect for snorkeling and giving you plenty of bottom time to search. The water clarity here is what makes Islamorada famous – you'll spot lobsters tucked under coral heads and ledges from the surface. Our experienced guide will show you exactly what to look for: those long antennae poking out, the telltale spots on their shells, and the best holes where they like to hide. You'll learn how to gently work the stick behind a lobster to encourage it forward, then use your other hand to grab it cleanly. Proper measurement is crucial since undersized bugs mean hefty fines – we carry gauges and know exactly what's legal. The hunt happens in some of the most beautiful shallow water habitat in the Keys, over turtle grass beds and around patch reefs where lobsters love to set up shop. You'll be free diving, so no heavy scuba gear or complicated equipment. Just mask, fins, snorkel, and the tools of the trade. We also provide fresh water for rinsing and will clean your catch at the end of the trip, so you go home with perfectly prepared lobster tails ready for the grill.
