Florida Fishing – Customized Trip
Picture this: you're out on crystal-clear Florida waters with a captain who knows every honey hole, every seasonal migration pattern, and exactly how to make your day legendary. Our 8-hour customized fishing adventure isn't your typical charter – it's whatever you want it to be. Whether you're dead-set on catching dinner, want to mix in some shelling and beach-hopping, or just cruise around looking for dolphins while the kids snorkel, we'll build the perfect day around what gets you excited about being on the water.
What to Expect on the Water
This isn't a cookie-cutter trip where everyone does the same thing. When you book with us, you're getting a captain who listens. Want to spend four hours targeting snook around mangrove edges, then hit a secluded beach for lunch and shelling? Done. Prefer to troll for kings and Spanish mackerel, then anchor up somewhere quiet to snorkel and swim? We've got you covered. The beauty of Florida's inshore waters is the variety – we can fish grass flats for trout and redfish in the morning, then cruise to deeper waters for snapper and grouper after lunch. With just four guests max, there's plenty of room to spread out, and everyone gets quality time with the rod. We launch at 8 AM sharp, giving us the whole day to explore whatever catches your fancy.
Techniques & Tackle
Florida inshore fishing means adapting to what the fish are doing, not forcing them into your game plan. We'll have live bait – pilchards, pinfish, and shrimp – plus a full spread of artificials ready to go. Depending on what you're after, we might be sight-fishing with topwater plugs, bouncing jigs along grass edges, or free-lining live bait around structure. The boat's rigged with quality spinning and conventional gear, but feel free to bring your favorite rods if you've got them. Our electronics will help us locate bait schools and structure, but half the fun is reading the water – watching for bird activity, current lines, and those telltale signs that fish are feeding. If you want to learn new techniques, our captains love teaching. Want to stick with what works for you? That's cool too.
Species You'll Want to Hook
Redfish are the kings of Florida's shallow water game, and for good reason. These copper-colored bruisers love to cruise grass flats and mangrove shorelines, especially during moving water. They'll hit live shrimp under a popping cork or smash a gold spoon retrieved just fast enough to flash in the sun. Most of our reds run 18 to 28 inches – perfect eating size – but don't be surprised if you hook into a bull that'll test your drag and your patience. Spring and fall are prime time, but honestly, we catch reds year-round here.
Spotted seatrout are another inshore favorite that'll keep your rod bent. These guys are schooling fish, so when you find one, there's usually more around. They're suckers for live shrimp fished under grass beds, and they'll absolutely destroy a soft plastic paddle tail worked slowly along the bottom. Trout are most active during cooler months, and the bigger "gator trout" – those 20-plus-inch females – tend to hang in deeper holes and channels. They're excellent table fare and fight harder than most people expect.
Snook are Florida's signature gamefish, and they've earned that reputation. These ambush predators love structure – docks, mangrove overhangs, bridge pilings – anywhere they can hide and attack baitfish. They're notorious for their gill-rattling jumps and their ability to throw hooks, which makes landing one feel like a real achievement. Snook are catch-and-release only during certain seasons, but they're so much fun to fight that most anglers don't mind. Live pilchards or pinfish around structure are deadly, especially during moving water.
Spanish mackerel show up in schools and turn fishing into a non-stop action fest. These speed demons hit fast-moving lures like small spoons and jigs, and they're perfect for keeping kids and beginners engaged since they bite aggressively and fight hard for their size. They're also some of the best eating fish in these waters when prepared fresh. Look for diving birds – that's usually a dead giveaway that Spanish are chopping up baitfish underneath.
