What a great day on the water, couldn't ask for more action! I took Chris out for an early summer fishing adventure on Lake Ontario, launching from the Lighthouse & Marina in Pulaski, NY. We set out at the crack of dawn, hitting the water around 5:30 am. The weather started off a bit iffy, but it cleared up nicely in the afternoon, giving us perfect conditions for our trip with Over The Rail Sportfishing. Once the stage was set, we got down to business, focusing on some prime spots near the Deer Creek Marsh Wildlife Management Area. We mixed it up with a variety of techniques - trolling, jigging, and bottom fishing - to see what would get the fish biting. Our persistence paid off big time when Chris hooked into a monster Rainbow Trout. This beauty measured in at an impressive 90 inches - a catch that'll be hard to top! We kept at it, working different areas of the lake and adjusting our approach as needed. The combination of techniques we used really seemed to do the trick, keeping things interesting throughout our time on the water. As the day went on, the improving weather conditions only added to the overall experience. The clearing skies in the afternoon made for some great fishing conditions, and we took full advantage. While that massive Rainbow Trout was definitely the highlight, we enjoyed steady action throughout the trip. Chris showed some real skill, adapting to each technique we tried. We wrapped up the day with smiles all around, feeling pretty good about the success we had out there. For anyone looking to get in on some fantastic Lake Ontario fishing action, I'd highly recommend giving us a call at Over The Rail Sportfishing. Non-stop bites all day long! That's how I'd sum up our early summer fishing adventure on Lake Ontario with Over The Rail Sportfishing. Doug joined me for a day out on the water near Pulaski, NY, launching from the Salmon River Lighthouse & Marina. We set out in the early morning hours, greeted by cloudy skies that would stick with us throughout the day. The lake was calling, and we were ready to answer. With our gear rigged and ready, we hit the water, eager to see what Lake Ontario had in store for us. We employed a mix of techniques, alternating between trolling, jigging, and bait casting as we worked different areas of the lake. Each method had its moments, and we kept at it, adjusting our approach based on what the fish seemed to prefer. While we didn't land any keepers this time around, the constant action kept us engaged and hopeful. As the day progressed, we saw some afternoon rain, but it didn't dampen our spirits one bit. Hot bite and happy crew! Summer fishing on Lake Ontario out of Pulaski NY was in full swing when I took Mark and their crew out for an afternoon adventure with Over The Rail Sportfishing. We launched from the Salmon River Lighthouse & Marina under partly cloudy skies, with some rain showers moving through in the morning and afternoon. Despite the weather, conditions were prime for our target species. With our gear rigged and ready, we set out to explore the productive waters of Lake Ontario. Our 4-Hour Fishing Adventure had us employing a mix of techniques to entice the fish. We started off trolling, covering ground and searching for active schools. As we located promising areas, we switched it up with some bottom fishing and casting to really work the spots. The variety in our approach paid off big time. Mark's crew hooked into some impressive Lake Trout, with one measuring a whopping 70 inches - a true trophy catch! But the excitement didn't stop there. We also managed to boat a monster 72-inch Chinook Salmon, showcasing the incredible potential of Lake Ontario's fishery. The mix of species and sizes kept us on our toes throughout the trip, making for non-stop action and some unforgettable catches. After what seems like forever, the winds and snow died down today for the fellas from Long Island to come up and get out after some perch and pickerel! It was a slower pick on the tipups today and only had about a dozen flags and managed to land 2 small pickerel, and a 2 lb smallmouth bass! Lots of short runs and then spit the bait, and a handful of missed fish as well where they just came unglued. Jigging action however proved worthy today and the fellas managed to each jig up a few perch and learn the electronics. They kept a few of the larger ones for the grease and released all the smaller fish! Was a great time out on the water on a gorgeous day! They experienced stiff winds last year's trip so they saw what the difference weather can make! Several other groups out fishing picked at some perch and also were lacking in pickerel. Snow was fairly deep around 4-7inches and the ice was 16" thick! Snowmobiles and atvs were driving around and we did watch the schools of fish move away quickly when a few approached and stopped to chat. Tip! (Fish can and do hear when you're making a lot of noise and sometimes they move on)
Conditions for yesterday's scheduled "walleye slaughter" on Oneida Lake for Claudio and family were less than ideal! Confronted with relentless 15-20 mph winds and blowing snow squalls we deployed our shanty in 20 foot of water and went to work. Screens looked decent on and off throughout the morning but the fish just seemed to want to "sniff" every lure we deployed. Without being able to deploy more of our program and move around we spent the morning hunkered down and was able to put a few nice walleye and a short and one perch topside! We also missed 5 fish on tipups that could've helped sweeten the day but overall they had a great day and are looking forward to a trip on Lake Ontario this summer! It was a pleasure to fish with you guys!!
Martin and Crew showed up to fish with me today! We ventured out after pickerel and perch. The pickerel bite proved fast and aggressive and did not disappoint! Perch fishing has so far been slower with only a few being brought to hand! Overall though it was an epic morning with a 4-man limit of Pickerel in 4 short hours!
Went out for some walleye. We ended up with a total of 8 Walleye, and kept 4. Biggest of the day and year so far at 26" 7.3LBS! Lets hope we get some cold weather to heal the ice back up so we can get on these tastey specimens again!
Phenomenal brown trout fishing continues! Laker fishing has been great and the Salmon fishing is heating up! Get in on the action!!

I don’t think there’s words to say how great of a trip we had. Once we started gearing up to fish, we were on fish. Cap. Justin was very knowledgeable with the area, how and where we needed our lures, and most importantly how to not lose a fish. We will definitely be coming back for future trips. This was our first trip on Lake Ontario and I feel the best we could ever have.

Our Ice Fishing Trip with Captain Justin was an excellent experience. It was our first time ice fishing and he took the time to explain each step of the process, make recommendations for gear and supplies, and explain every method of ice fishing. He provided many tips and tricks for tip up fishing, dead sticking, and jigging, including demonstrating how to jig with the help of a fish finder. He and the assistant guide set up many tip ups and checked them often to make sure they were still baited. When the fish stopped biting at our first location he offered to switch us to a new location where we caught over a dozen fish, which he filleted for us. Throughout the trip he checked in often to make sure we were comfortable and warm, and had a heated shanty set up for us to take breaks in. I strongly recommend booking a trip through Over the Rail Sportfishing.
