Book with Ben McCarron
Whether you're looking for a fun family day on the water, trying to tangle with some tuna offshore, or you're a serious angler looking to break your personal best striped bass. Push the Limit Sportfishing's got you covered. Captain Ben McCarron has been fishing Montauk's waters since he was twelve years old. Fishing's an obsession for Ben, and he started out as a hard core surf caster on Montauk's legendary rocky shores chasing trophy stripers. Today, he runs a comfortable 31' JC downeast style boat that allows him to take advantage of every part of Montauk's fishery. Push the Limit Sportfishing runs inshore, offshore, and night bass trips. And with his surfcasting pedigree, there's no doubt at all that Captain Ben's got the striped bass bite dialed in as you can see. Night bass trips offer anglers of all experience levels a chance to get out after dark and tangle with trophy Striped Bass in the 25-50 pound range. Anglers will use a mixture of live and artificial baits to get the bite. Night bass trips are based strictly around the tide and may leave any time between sunset and sunrise. Stay inshore to cast at blitzing Striped Bass and False Albacore with light spinning tackle, drag baits on the bottom for Fluke, or load up on Porgies, Cod, and Sea Bass. You can head offshore to chum for Sharks as well as troll or jig and pop for Tuna and Mahi Mahi. Push the Limit can also clean and filet your catch for you to keep!

Capt. Ben has put me on the biggest striped bass of my life and one of the best bluefin tuna bites I've ever seen in consecutive trips. Guy is making a name for himself in the industry and can't wait to fish off the new boat!

Booking with Capt. Ben has been the highlight of my vacations to Montauk by far. His knowledge of the fishery is on another level. Ben has caught me my first bluefin, marlin and largest striped bass. I cannot wait to book my next trip.

The best fishing trip I’ve ever been on! To say that Captain Ben knows what he’s doing is an understatement. Ben grew up in Montauk and has been fishing there his whole life. It shows! With Ben’s guidance on how to work live eels, I landed the biggest striped bass I’ve ever caught at 42 lbs. We also caught several in the 20-30 lb range. I had such a great time on that nighttime live eeling trip, that I went out with him again on my birthday for a quick day trip and landed another 35 lb bass using a diamond jig. Captain Ben is super knowledgeable, great with giving instruction, and just an all around nice guy. If you’re looking to go fishing in MTK, he’s your guy!

I've had the pleasure of fishing with Captain Ben of Push the Limit Sportfishing numerous times now and he never disappoints! Great Captain and even better guy who seems to spend every waking minute on the water - always has the latest intel and reports. I've done a handful of inshore trips for a number of species but the highlights were night bass fishing (both with live eels and artificials - catching fish pushing 40 lbs and up) and late season Blackfishing where we routinely limit out and usually add a nice mix of cod and seabass as well. My real favorite trips have been offshore for bluefin tuna where this past summer we put multiple fish in the boat each time, often releasing many as well. What's most impressive is over my past four charters we caught fish on the troll, on jigs, on the chunk and casting plugs to boiling fish (this was really special - acres of whales, dolphins and tuna all feeding together). The best part is you don't need to go to the Canyons for these fish, several of the trips we found them just 1.5-2 hrs from the dock.
