Our six-hour journey with Captain Edward and his first mate, Evan, aboard the Reef Runner was an absolute delight. We arrived at the boat 15 minutes ahead of schedule, and Edward and Evan were fully prepared for our adventure. They wasted no time setting sail, and the voyage was remarkably smooth. Navigating to deeper waters, we commenced trolling, which took a bit to yield our first catch, a common occurrence in fishing. However, Captain Edward's unwavering dedication to finding prime spots paid off as we had four hits within 30 minutes, creating an exhilarating moment with all three of us reeling in fish simultaneously.

My 67-year-old father had a bucket list dream, and finally, it came true. On that particular day, the fish weren't biting much, but Captain Edwards and Evan went above and beyond to make sure we had a shot at catching some Mahi. Their fishing expertise is truly impressive! I admire their strategic approach to angling, allowing me to learn and experience a variety of techniques on this trip. During the first half, we engaged in thrilling bottom fishing using live bait and chum to entice vibrant reef fish – an exhilarating experience! The second half of the trip is where the real challenge begins, as Captain Edward and his mate exhibit a deep passion for both fast jigging and slowpitch jigging (SPJ). Captain Edward's exceptional skills in current reading and boat positioning over wrecks were evident. While we did lose a few battles against formidable giants, likely massive groupers, despite my robust 60lb braided line, most of our catches came from the jigs. I highly recommend this charter for beginners, intermediates, and professionals alike. Just communicate your expectations honestly with the captain so that he can plan a tailored strategy for you.
