One for the books today! I took Ethan out on Lake Buchanan for a half-day fishing adventure with Reel Texas Fishing Tours. We set out in the early morning, launching from Buchanan Dam, TX under partly cloudy skies. The summer weather was perfect for a day on the water. Lake Buchanan was looking good, and I was eager to show Ethan some of the best spots Reel Texas Fishing Tours has to offer. With our gear rigged and ready, we started off trolling around some promising areas. I always like to mix things up, so we alternated between crankbait fishing and using live bait. Lake Buchanan can be a bit tricky, but that's what makes it such a great challenge for anglers. We focused on areas where I've had luck before, working the structure and drop-offs that often hold fish this time of year. Our persistence paid off when Ethan hooked into a nice Blue Catfish. It put up a good fight, and when we got it in the boat, it measured 11 inches - not bad at all for Lake Buchanan! While we didn't land any monsters, the steady action kept us engaged throughout the morning. We wrapped up the trip with smiles all around, having enjoyed a productive day on the water. If you're thinking about coming out to Lake Buchanan for some fishing, I'd love to show you what this lake has to offer. We provide all the gear and knowledge you need for a successful outing. Whether you're interested in trolling, crankbait fishing, or trying your luck with live bait, we've got you covered. What a great day we had out on the water at Buchanan Dam, Texas! As a guide with Reel Texas Fishing Tours, I'm always excited to take folks out for an evening trip, especially in May when the fish are really active. The weather was just about perfect—partly cloudy throughout the day, with comfortable temperatures that made for a pleasant time on the water. We started off targeting Wiper (Hybrid striped bass) and White crappie, using a mix of heavy and light tackle. The fish were really responding to the conditions, and it didn't take long before we started hooking up. These species put up a great fight, stripping line and making those drag-screaming runs that get the adrenaline pumping. It was nonstop action, with Joseph skillfully playing each fish to the boat. We landed some real nice specimens, and it was clear he was having a blast reeling them in. Truthfully, the fishing was just one part of what made this trip so memorable. The real highlight was the camaraderie and good vibes we shared out there. Joseph was a pleasure to fish with—he was engaged, asked great questions, and was genuinely excited about every catch. Between the bites, we traded stories, swapped fishing tips, and just enjoyed each other's company. That's what these trips are all about, in my mind—creating an experience that goes beyond just the numbers. If you're looking to get in on some world-class fishing in the Buchanan Dam area, I'd highly recommend booking an evening trip with Reel Texas Fishing Tours. Whether you're after hard-fighting Wiper, tasty White crappie, or just want to enjoy a few hours on the water, we'll make sure you have an unforgettable time. The fish are biting, the scenery is beautiful, and the company is always great. So what are you waiting for? Give us a call and let's get you out on the water for an adventure you won't soon forget!
It was a beautiful morning as we set out on the water for our 6 Hour Trip with Reel Texas Fishing Tours. The weather was partly cloudy throughout the day, but that didn't dampen our spirits one bit. Our group of two, Jewell and myself, were eager to see what the Buchanan Dam area had in store for us. As we started working the banks and structure, the fish started firing up right away. We were getting hits on both our heavy tackle and light tackle setups, with Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Florida Bass, and even some Spotted Bass all getting in on the action. It was nonstop fun, setting the hook and feeling those bass put up an incredible fight. Jewell was having a ball, landing fish left and right and really getting the hang of reading the water to find the hot spots. The trip had that perfect blend of great fishing and amazing company. In between catches, we'd swap stories, talk fishing tactics, and just enjoy being out on the water together. That's what makes these trips so special - it's not just about the number of fish you bring in, but the overall experience of spending a day on the lake, surrounded by beautiful scenery and good friends. Captain Randy recently guided me and my son. We’re from Minnesota and came down to look at colleges. We had so much fun catching wipers and bucket mouths that Randy should get paid a recruiting fee. I may have a future Aggie partly because he showed us such a good time. I use guides often and I highly recommend Randy. Also, heck of a nice guy.
