Lake St. Clair Private Charter Fishing Adventure
Looking for a world-class fishing experience on one of Michigan's premier waters? This private 6 to 8-hour charter on Lake St. Clair puts you right in the heart of some of the best late-season fishing action around. Running from November 1st through December 15th, these trips start at 8:00 AM and give you exclusive access to the lake's hottest spots without sharing the boat with strangers. We're talking about serious fishing here – the kind where you'll be swapping fish stories for years to come.
What to Expect on the Water
Your day kicks off bright and early at 8:00 AM, when the lake's still quiet and the fish are active. Lake St. Clair's fall bite is legendary among anglers who know what they're doing, and this seasonal window delivers some of the most consistent action you'll find anywhere in the Great Lakes system. The cooler water temperatures get the walleye moving, while muskies are putting on the feed bag before winter sets in. You'll have the boat to yourself and up to 5 fishing buddies – no crowded decks or waiting for your turn at the best spots. Our captain knows these waters like the back of his hand, reading the electronics and adjusting tactics throughout the day to keep you on fish. The lake can serve up everything from steady walleye action to heart-stopping muskie follows, and with 6 to 8 hours on the water, you've got plenty of time to experience it all.
Trolling Tactics & Gear Setup
Lake St. Clair fishing is all about covering water and finding active schools, which means we'll be trolling most of the day with proven setups that produce results. We run multiple lines at different depths using downriggers and planer boards to spread our presentation across the water column. For walleye, we're pulling crankbaits and crawler harnesses at speeds between 1.5 and 2.5 mph, targeting the drop-offs and structure that hold fish during this time of year. When we're after muskies, we switch gears completely – bigger baits, heavier tackle, and a whole lot more excitement. The boat's rigged with top-shelf electronics including GPS, fishfinder, and temperature gauges that help us dial in the bite. All rods, reels, tackle, and bait are provided, though you're welcome to bring your favorite rod if you've got a lucky stick you can't fish without. We'll have you set up with the right gear for whatever we're targeting, and our guide will walk you through the techniques so everyone on board can get in on the action.

Species You'll Want to Hook
Walleye are the bread and butter of Lake St. Clair, and during this late fall period, they're schooled up tight and feeding hard before the water gets too cold. These golden beauties typically run between 2 and 6 pounds, with plenty of keeper-sized fish in the 15 to 20-inch range. November and December walleye are some of the fattest, best-eating fish you'll pull out of these waters all year. They've been feeding heavily through the fall and are in prime condition. What makes walleye fishing so addictive is the way they bite – that distinctive tap-tap on your rod tip followed by the steady pull as they try to head back down. Once you get into a school, it's game on, and you might find yourself reeling in fish after fish until your arms are sore.
Muskellunge are the apex predator in Lake St. Clair and the fish that gets every angler's heart racing. These underwater wolves can stretch over 50 inches and weigh 30 pounds or more, like Christopher's personal best 54.5-incher. Fall is muskie time – they're actively hunting and putting on weight before the winter slowdown. What makes muskie fishing so special isn't just their size, but their attitude. These fish are smart, moody, and will test every bit of your fishing skills. They'll follow your bait right to the boat, stare you down, then disappear like ghosts. When one finally commits and hits your lure, it's pure chaos – powerful runs, explosive jumps, and a fight that'll leave you shaking. Even the smaller muskies in the 30 to 40-inch range are absolute bruisers that'll give you a workout. They're called the fish of 10,000 casts for a reason, but when everything comes together, there's no fishing experience quite like landing a Lake St. Clair muskie.
