Wade Grant
Fishing in Portland, Oregon is more than a trip—it’s an experience shaped by powerful rivers, strong fish runs, and a captain who has spent a lifetime on the water. Captain Wade Grant has been fishing the Columbia River and the Northwest since he was a kid, ever since his grandfather woke him up at 4 a.m. for his first fishing trip. That early passion turned into a career he now loves sharing with every guest who steps aboard.
Your day begins aboard a 26-foot River Wild Elite skiff, built in 2017 and powered by a Yamaha 250 VMAX engine. With a cruising speed of up to 50 knots and a comfortable capacity of six anglers, this modern, fully equipped boat is designed for safety, speed, and success. Outfitted with top-tier electronics and gear, it allows Captain Wade to put you on fish efficiently while enjoying a smooth ride on both the Columbia and Willamette Rivers.
The Columbia River runs straight through Portland and is home to healthy, hard-fighting populations of Salmon, Steelhead, and Sturgeon. Guided fishing trips here are popular for good reason—the river consistently produces quality fish and unforgettable moments. Just below Portland, the Willamette River joins the Columbia, flowing south to north through the heart of the city. From March through June, it hosts one of the largest Spring Chinook Salmon runs in the region, along with abundant Sturgeon and a massive Shad run that arrives in May.
All ages and experience levels are welcome, from beginners catching their first fish to seasoned anglers chasing trophies. Every trip is designed to be relaxed, educational, and fun. In addition to fishing charters, educational river tours and bird-watching excursions are also available.
All rods, reels, bait, and tackle are provided, and your catch is filleted free of charge. Captain Wade is a US Coast Guard licensed captain, fully insured, CPR trained, and licensed by the Oregon State Marine Board—so you can focus on fishing while he handles the rest.
There’s nothing better than watching a smile appear when a fish is hooked—or hearing a kid shout, “Got one!” Book your Portland fishing trip today and experience the Columbia and Willamette Rivers the way they were meant to be fished.
