Book with Jim Longtin
When it comes to fishing the Texas coast, Captain Jim Longtin knows how to deliver the kind of day you'll be talking about long after the cooler’s unloaded. As the owner and operator of Rock and Roll Charters in Galveston, Captain Jim brings years of experience, local insight, and a serious passion for fishing to every trip. Whether you're a seasoned angler or trying something new, he’ll make sure your time on the water is well spent.
Galveston offers an incredible mix of inshore and nearshore opportunities. Depending on the season and conditions, you could be reeling in Redfish, Flounder, Speckled Trout, Sheepshead, Blacktip Shark, Bonnethead Shark, or even a powerful Tarpon. These trips typically involve bottom fishing using either light or heavy tackle — your captain will make the call based on what’s biting and what you're hoping to catch.
You'll be riding out on a 25’ Robalo center console — a fishing machine designed for both performance and comfort. Outfitted with all the essentials, this vessel offers room for up to 5 guests, making it a great option for families, friends, or small groups looking for a personalized experience. Rods, reels, and bait are all provided, so you can focus on the fun part: fishing.
Before joining Captain Jim on the water, everyone in your group will need to purchase a valid Texas fishing license. These are available online or at local retailers. Keep in mind that some species may require special tags or have seasonal restrictions, and your captain will help you stay informed and compliant.
To ensure a smooth day, be sure to pack sunscreen (lotion only), polarized sunglasses, bottled water, snacks, and a small cooler. Beer is allowed in moderation (cans only), but glass containers and hard liquor should be left behind.
Captain Jim Longtin takes pride in giving every guest a trip to remember. With his friendly approach, expert navigation, and deep respect for the waters of Galveston, he’s built Rock and Roll Charters into one of the area's most trusted outfits. From spotting bait schools to watching the rods bend, every moment on board is handled with care and attention to detail.
So if you're ready for a no-stress, high-quality fishing trip in Galveston, Captain Jim Longtin and Rock and Roll Charters are ready to make it happen. The fish are out there — and Captain Jim knows where to find them.

Vehicle Details
Fishing out of Galveston has been consistently productive this June, and Rock N Roll Charters is putting clients on the fish daily. With Captain Jim at the helm, anglers are enjoying solid catches both inshore and nearshore, taking full advantage of calm seas and warm Gulf waters. Inshore Bite: Speckled trout have been active around the jetties and deeper channels, especially during the early morning tide swings. Most fish are hitting live shrimp under popping corks, though soft plastics are also producing when worked slowly. Redfish are showing up in the marshes and along grass edges — many slot-sized, with the occasional oversized brute testing drags. Nearshore and Jetty Fishing: For those venturing a little farther out, the jetty and nearshore bite has been excellent. Sheepshead, black drum, and Spanish mackerel are being hauled in consistently. Free-lining shrimp near the rocks is a proven tactic, and cut bait has been bringing in some bonus bull reds and jack crevalle. Shark Trips: The summer shark trips are heating up — literally and figuratively. Blacktips and bonnetheads are common within a few miles of the beach, and Rock N Roll Charters has all the heavy tackle ready for those looking to test their strength. Family-Friendly Fishing: If you're bringing the kids, the bay trips are perfect. Plenty of action, light tackle, and a good mix of species to keep everyone smiling.
Finished up with a pretty good day with my friends from up North!
First one of the day on this foggy morning. Way to go Megan!!!

Captain Jim put us on Black Drum shortly after leaving the marina, and we had steady action right away. Once we were happy with the catch, we moved to a new spot to target Sheepshead. We landed several, plus a surprise Trout to top things off. Overall, it was a great trip with plenty of bites and a good variety of fish!

We brought our 9- and 6-year-old kids along, and the crew went above and beyond to keep them engaged and having fun. The weather was rough, which made fishing a challenge, but we still managed to catch some fish. The crew worked hard the entire time, constantly adjusting lines and adapting to the shifting wind and boat movement. Their effort and attitude really stood out. It was a great experience overall, and we’d absolutely recommend them—especially for families with kids!

We landed the biggest fish we’ve ever caught! The bay was busy and the water was choppy, so we didn’t get any table fish, but Captain Jim went above and beyond to make sure we hooked into some monsters. It was an awesome experience for five wild guys on a boys trip. Eloy, the first mate, was super knowledgeable, helpful, and kept us laughing the whole time. Both guys were a blast to fish with—10/10 all around. We’ll definitely be back!
