Non-stop bites all day long! Jeremy and I headed out early morning for our Private 6-Hour Tautog Inshore Fishing Adventure with Captain Diego during fall season. The weather started overcast but clearing in the afternoon made for perfect conditions on the water around Melville. With calm seas and improving visibility, we had everything lined up for a solid day of inshore fishing with Rogue Charter! Once the stage was set, we focused our efforts using drift fishing and bottom fishing techniques while mixing in some casting with lures to cover different water columns. Rhode Island's inshore waters around Melville are absolutely prime for this type of fishing - the structure and current breaks create perfect holding spots that respond well to our varied approach. We worked the area methodically, letting the drift carry us over productive bottom while staying ready with our lures when opportunities presented. Even without landing any keepers, we had constant action and Jeremy stayed busy all day working different techniques! The combination of drift fishing and bottom fishing really shines in Rhode Island's inshore waters, especially around areas like Melville where the bottom structure holds fish consistently. Our casting with lures added another dimension to the trip, allowing us to target different species and water columns throughout the day. The clearing afternoon conditions made it even better as visibility improved and we could read the water more effectively. We wrapped up the trip with great time and smiles all around - that's what it's all about! If you're looking to get out on Rhode Island's productive inshore waters, our Extended Half Day Tautog Fishing Trip offers the perfect opportunity to experience what these waters have to offer. At Rogue Charter, we specialize in putting you on fish using proven techniques like drift fishing, bottom fishing, and casting with lures that work consistently in areas like Melville. Whether you're targeting tautog specifically or want to explore Rhode Island's diverse inshore fishing opportunities, our 6-hour adventures give you plenty of time to work different techniques and locations. The fall season provides some of the best inshore fishing conditions of the year, and our local knowledge of Rhode Island's waters ensures you'll be fishing the most productive spots. Contact us to book your Private 6-Hour Tautog Inshore Fishing Adventure and experience firsthand why Rhode Island's inshore fishing is second to none!

Striper season in Rhode Island is in full swing, and the bite has been consistently hot from Narragansett to Newport. Anglers are finding success both inshore and just off the beaches, with schoolies and keeper-sized striped bass feeding aggressively on bunker and sand eels. Early mornings and late afternoons have been the most productive, especially around structure and current-heavy areas like the mouth of the Sakonnet River, Point Judith, and Block Island’s southwest ledge. Trolling with mojos and umbrella rigs is pulling in solid numbers offshore, while inshore, live-lining bunker or casting soft plastics and topwater plugs near the rocks is producing exciting action. With water temps holding steady and baitfish thick in the area, conditions are ideal for targeting quality fish. The topwater bite has been especially fun on calm mornings. Whether you're fishing from boat or shore, Rhode Island’s striper scene is red-hot right now—this is prime time to hit the water and land a trophy.

Captain Diego got us on the stripers right away. We hooked a nice one weighing about 25 pounds almost immediately using a flutter spoon. After landing a few smaller ones, we caught another impressive fish in the mid-20s range. He had everything covered, and we found fish throughout our two-hour outing. However, the bite slowed down for some reason, prompting us to move to another spot. Although we didn’t fish for the full day, Diego was incredibly generous with his advice and suggestions, even offering assistance for future trips. He’s a great guy, an excellent fisherman, and overall, it was a fantastic experience. I’ll definitely use him again and highly recommend him to others.

I had an amazing experience with Captain Diego! We initially planned a trip for bass and blues, but due to rough seas, we had to change our plans. Captain Diego quickly found us the fish, and my little brother caught a 30+ lb striper right away! When the striper bite slowed, we switched to ground fishing and had a blast reeling in sea bass—there were so many bites! Captain Diego was fantastic with my 11-year-old brother, ensuring he felt comfortable and was able to catch fish. I highly recommend booking with Rogue Charter!

Captain Diego kept us on the fish throughout the entire trip. There’s nothing better than zipping around the Bay, watching the sunset while the rods bend from the thrill of a good fight. We landed some massive stripers and blues, despite the sharks being a nuisance this year. Diego is an excellent captain who knows all the best spots to find the fish you’re targeting. He’s a fantastic guy who made our time on the water unforgettable, sharing plenty of tips to help us improve our fishing skills. We can’t wait for our next visit!

Captain Diego is amazing! We had a blast and were reeling in fish all day long, ending up with a great mixed bag to take home. Highly recommend booking a trip with him!

It was a beautiful day with an awesome captain! Despite tough fishing conditions, Diego worked tirelessly to get us on the fish even when they weren’t biting much. We dealt with a lot of short bites and smaller catches, but still managed to fill our bag limit. He went above and beyond to ensure my father was comfortable and able to enjoy the trip. Five stars just isn’t enough—Diego’s a great guy and the kind of captain you’d love to have a beer with and chat. Highly recommend!

Despite the rough weather, Captain Diego adjusted the plan and started us inshore on a rock pile where we hooked plenty of tautog, with a mix of shorts and a few keepers. Then we switched to drifting for sea bass and flounder, experiencing non-stop action for the last two hours. Diego’s expertise and hard work made it a fantastic trip. Highly recommend him!
