One for the books today! Antonio and I headed out this summer morning for some early morning offshore action. Partly cloudy skies gave us perfect conditions with calm waters in the America/Los_Angeles timezone. We launched our Chinook and Coho Salmon with Crab Combo Adventure through SOA Charters. With our gear rigged and ready, we focused on trolling as our primary technique, mixing in some bottom fishing and drift fishing throughout the day. Antonio managed to land a solid Coho Salmon during our offshore run. The combination of techniques worked well in these waters - trolling kept us moving through productive zones while the bottom fishing and drift fishing let us work specific spots more thoroughly. Hot bite and happy crew! I took Dennis out for an offshore adventure with SOA Charters off the beautiful Oregon Coast this summer. We set out from Roseburg OR in the early morning, greeted by clear conditions that promised a great day on the water. Our target was halibut, but the ocean had some surprises in store for us. Once the stage was set, we got down to business. I mixed up our tactics, switching between trolling, jigging, and bottom fishing to see what would get the fish fired up. The offshore waters were alive with activity, and it wasn't long before we hooked into some action. While we were aiming for halibut, it was a blackfin tuna that stole the show. Dennis managed to land a nice 23-inch blackfin, which put up quite a fight. It's not every day we see these guys in our waters, so it was a special catch for sure. We kept at it, working different depths and techniques, making the most of the perfect weather conditions. Even though the halibut proved elusive this time, the unexpected tuna made for an exciting twist to our offshore expedition. If you're thinking about hitting the Oregon Coast for some serious fishing action, now's the time to get out there. The waters are teeming with life, and you never know what you might hook into. Our Offshore Halibut trips with SOA Charters are a great way to experience the thrill of deep-sea fishing. We offer shared 8-hour charter trips that give you plenty of time to try different techniques and target various species. For anglers looking to test their skills against some of the Pacific's most prized catches, our charters provide the perfect opportunity. We supply all the gear and know-how, so all you need to bring is your enthusiasm and maybe a bit of luck. The Oregon Coast is famous for its diverse fishery, and our offshore trips take you right to where the action is. Afternoon salmon and crabbing trips with the added benefit of avoiding early morning starts. The non-selective salmon season, meaning all coho salmon can be kept, begins on September 1st, and the current salmon are already of good size and will be larger by then. We run frequent double trips due to quick limits, making it a good option for those who prefer afternoon fishing and want to bring home a catch. If you would like to book give us a call (541)-430-1013 or Book Online at SOAcharters.com
We are in full swing for our season with Salmon, Halibut, Rockfish, Crabbbing, and with Tuna right around the corner.
Small mouth bass fishing continues to heat up on the main Umpqua with 100 plus fish days. Yesterday myself and two clients spent about 6 hours drift fishing and sitting on anchor hammering these things. We boated close to fifty and the clients took about 20 home for family taco night. We used ultra lite gear which added to the excitement of reeling these fish in.
Epic day for my clients catching small mouth bass on tje river boated atound 50 and they too around 20 home for famlie fish fry.

Travis and Tom were awesome. Took extra time with our son on his first ocean fishing adventure and made sure everyone had a great time. Our son thought he had a “fish on” about every 30-45 seconds and Tom and Travis never got tired of letting him know what was and wasn’t a fish on the line. They answered all of his (and my questions since I hadn’t been ocean fishing in over 20 years) and were gracious, funny, and kind. Great trip with great people.
